Well, one thing about that is that you know the two configure.php files are right. :) You just need to get the rest of the files around those two to be of the latest version, then upgrade the database now. :) aassuming that the version they installed is not way back when. :)

Yeah they always seem to be behind the times... they did get 1.5.1 rolling too bad I had to delete it!

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

So now that I have 1.5.3 installed, admin is named admin, zc_install is still in the root directory... I am supposed to truncate all the tables? Will my SQL dump work for reinstalling?
Also my new responsive template, easier to wait for database 1.3.8 to merge or should I do it before the conversion?

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

ok so I tried to run the upgrade database, said it couldn't upgrade, nothing else on page, I hit the back button stayed on that page, retyped zc_install dir and I got the setup page again, went through, now theres an error beside not being able to write to the config file called: POPUP_ERROR_TEXT ...

every step theres quicksand. :(

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

upgrade the database, I dropped all the table in 1.5.3, then imported my 1.3.8 database, then tried to upgrade. The upgrade failed.

Now I can not use the zc_install to upgrade because of the POPUP_ERROR_TEXT error.

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

After having the host change the file permissions, I was having FTP isues or permissions issues, I got the installer to finally offer me the upgrade without the pop up eror, however, after having the host change the admin log in details back to admin/admin the upgrader says that the details are wrong!! "Admin Password required to proceed with upgrade"

Host keeps telling me to "please contact the application provider so that they can provide more details on this"

Help please!

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

I grabbed the fix(s) for the login admin issue (post #3 and #8). I uploaded the general file to includes/functions/

I then dropped all the tables in the database and imported my tables from 1.3.8

I renamed the admin to "admin" and left zc_install... went to the installer cleared the unwritable config error, now no errors, but only offering me to Upgrade the cfg file not the database upgrade!! What gives?!!!

Uploaded to includes/functions? Or zc_install/includes/functions?

The other steps: renaming admin, and making configure.php writeable are unnecessary for a database only upgrade.

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

ok I saw one blanck on the config added in the prefix for my zencart installation, I get the upgrade database button again, but it will not let me upgrade, keeps saying: Admin Password required to proceed with upgrade

And as I mentioned before I have uploaded the general file to the appropriate folder /functions/ inside the zc_install /includes/

This has both fiexs mentioned in #3 and #8 post for bug fixes.

sigh...

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

Success at upgrading only had a couple of things to ignore: SKIPPED: Cannot drop index page_accessed on table admin_activity_log because it does not exist.
SKIPPED: Cannot drop index access_date on table admin_activity_log because it does not exist.
SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_page_accessed_zen to table admin_activity_log because it already exists.
SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_access_date_zen to table admin_activity_log because it already exists.
I then renamed the admin, made both configs 444, removed the zc_install folder, logged into the admin (woot) and put the store off of maintenence mode.
I am about to add back my defines.
I do notice I don't see any images of the products from my old store.. I see prices, descriptions, no images. Will they miraculously appear after I do something?!

Thanks for your help so far **mc12345678 **and **dbltoe**

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

Unfortunately no, need to copy over your images directory. :) might suggest verifying the files there are not modified from your original. At least will want to keep the folder structure.

There are some things that you will also want to incorporate: an html text editor, usps shipping, other shipping mods as desired...

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

Should I troubleshoot the images first, fill out the define pages? Upgrade the template? Out of curiousity, what would you have charged my client for an upgrade from 1.3.8 to 1.5.3 and a responsive template.. I am sure I under-valued my time!

Re: When running zc_install appears not to have upgraded

I got the images to show, for some reason the FTP lied to me after uploading the folder all images are seen.

So I got it all working! All defines in place, new blue responsive template installed, all products are showing, just need to tweak the home page a bit tomorrow to show off some of the parger art she has done maybe like a 3 panel slider gallery.

Anyways appreciate the help and am still curious as to what would you charge someone for a 1.3.8 upgrade to 1.5.3 including template installation.?!
