question about downloads

I am trying to sell downloadable products. I have got them set up and able to sell them but the customer never gets a download link. Customer is able to goto invoice status and download the product so the downloads are working. How can I set it to send the customer the download link via email once order is paid?

The download "links" are on the checkout-success screen and in the My Account screen for Order History. The link in the confirmation email is to the My Account order history screen.

This is because the download links are secured by logins, and the customer must be logged in to get their downloads. Otherwise they could forward those emails all over and have thousands of people download the same item and you make no sales.
