Paypal express processes fine...payment not posted to order

I have searched high and low and just can't find anything that tells me why no payment is posted to order upon completion of a sale using Paypal express.

I have to go in and manually apply the paypal payment info to the order as a payment so that the order does not show a balance due...

Why is this?

What else have you installed lately?
What's been changed by your hosting company?

What are your settings excluding login credentials for modules->payment->PayPal express? Are payments setup to require authorization?
Is there some form of order modifying plugin installed? (Ie. Super orders, edit orders, new orders, etc...)

This condition has been this way for some time. I believe it superseded my upgrade to 1.51.

I am not aware of any other changes that may have affected my paypal module...

Everything seems to function just fine...it just does not post as a payment.

I use HostGator private server and I have for the last 6 or so years.

Can you explain what exact steps you take to "manually apply the payment"?
Also, I'm confused about what you mean by "so that the order does not show a balance due".
What plugins have been added to your site since it was first installed?
