Shipping Stopped working

Based on our last order at around 11:30 last night and a few emails from customers our choice of shipping options stopped working at midnight. We use UPS and USPS. The message for UPS is "We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping". The USPS message is "An error occurred in obtaining USPS shipping quotes". Any ideas of what might be happening?

Possibly that the software used to obtain those quotes is no longer supported? What version(s) apply to each of the modules? The USPS module was recently updated in the last couple of months, has that been applied to the site? One way to identify at least the USPS version is from the admin screen goto tools->Developer's Toolkit.

Bottom left text window type in usps.php, in the next dropdown select catalog, then select the button on the far right of that row.

A row should come back with the version. Please post it here.

Thanks for getting back to me. For the USPS module I have @version $Id: usps.php 2013-07-28 ajeh $ Version J 2013-07-28 and another line @version $Id: usps.php 2013-07-30 ajeh Version J5 $.
I just saw that there was an update for the USPS module but I haven't noticed anything about UPS module. Because they both quit at the same time I wanted to try and be sure of what the problem is before I start changing modules, etc.
Does the updated USPS module work fine with zencart 1.5.1?

That would explain your USPS issues. The USPS current version shows:

... and yes, it works just fine with Zen Cart v1.5.1.

Thanks for the answers. When I updated to 1.5.1 wouldn't I already have the latest UPS module? Following the above instructions to find the version I got :

Starting with Zen Cart v1.5.0, neither the UPS nor USPS shipping modules are included in the base distribution. They were moved to the plugins area at that time.

I guess it's an assumption but since I didn't just update but rebuilt from scratch in August of 2013 I would think I had downloaded the latest version to install.

You apparently did, since at that time (August 2013) the latest version would have been the one you referenced ( @version $Id: usps.php 2013-07-28 ajeh ). There have been a couple of USPS updates since then, usually in the January and July timeframes.

Sorry I wasn't clear in the last reply. I know I don't have the latest USPS however it does appear I do have the latest UPS update. They both stopped working at midnight. Why would that happen to the UPS shipping option also if I do have the latest version?

I believe that there was discussion that UPS was going to go "totally dimensional" come 2015; I don't know if that's what you're running up against.

I'm not seeing anyone else having the same problem though. Hopefully you can see why I don't want to jump in and make changes before I'm sure I know why this is occurring. I have enable flat rate temporarily and hidden UPS and USPS. Not the best solution but in a pinch better than nothing.

If you install the more current UPS and current USPS shipping modules, do you find that this corrects your problems with UPS and USPS?

It looks like there are more problems than the shipping. Even though the flat rate takes the customer through to checkout the credit card gives the message "Communication error Please notify webmaster...." It looks like something else is going on but I have no idea what.

What payment modules are you using?

Have you fixed your payment modules for the Poodle issues that were announced in the News and Announcements forum?

Yes I did. There were 5 instances. It looks like this now // curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSLVERSION, 3);

A test with flat rate shipping and Paypal showed that the information is getting to Paypal and the customer can pay but the data is not coming back to our website. So we see no order, they get no confirmation but we do see the payment made at Paypal.

Which PayPal method are you using? Are you using PayPal Express?

No, we use Paypal standard. But also Authorizenet is not responding either. I don't know if they are receiving anything.

Have you tried switching to PayPal Express? This is a much more reliable method of payment than PayPal Standard ...

Which method of AuthorizeNet are you using? Authorize.net (AIM) authorizenet_aim?
