I am creating a site to sell a full eBook or individual chapters as well as the hardcopy of the full book.

However the above store will not track referral codes.
I do not need/want to track customers, nor do I want them to have/create account(s).
I simply need to track the number and type of items purchased each month by buyers using a some type of identifier or code. This is so I can reimburse the referring person based on the number and type of items purchased that were associated with their unique identifier.

I just installed and modified ZC 1.5.1 to see if it will accomplish what I need.

It seems like the system is capable of doing this without a great deal of customization. But after all my searches and all my newbie install efforts today, my eyes cannot seem to ferret out the right steps.

Sorry if this is a no-brainer but I sure would appreciate some guidance because it's tired and I'm late.

To me it's confusing. Are wanting to know how many of a product is purchased over a period of time, or are you trying to track the information/"coupon" code to get to the site, or are you trying to use that "coupon" code to see what was purchased by customers of that code?

If a doctor gives a seminar and recommends that the attendees purchase items from the site, I want to provide a referral bonus to the referring doctor (probably write a bonus check to the referring doctor since there are very few of them). This would be done at the end of every month. The bonus would most likely be based on the number of items sold and the value of each item. I assume the attendees that purchase will be able to enter a referral or a coupon code that is previously assigned to the referring doctor, thereby linking each purchase to a specific doctor.

I installed Jrox but it seems a massive overkill for my needs.

I have only 4 doctors that will be recommending purchases. And I don't want the doctors (or the purchasers for that matter) to have any login requirements.

I just want to assign a code to each doctor and have the option for purchasers to enter that code when they buy. If no code entered, then no doctor gets credit for the referral.

This seems an easy thing to do - or am I smoking something?

Have you peeked at the Reports ... Customers Referral ... to see if this helps you out?

Yes I have. And I have reviewed your post to Tryingtolearn from back in 2006. But using this seems to indicate that a customer must have an account for this to work. I do not wish to have such a requirement so I created this thread. Am I incorrect?

OK, found my answer ... almost by mistake ... when searching for something else. COWOA 2.4 should take care of the question about needing an account to make a purchase with ZenCart.

Always able to ask for support, much of the "business" though is carried on outside of the forum. Many of the zenner's that offer support publicly also offer such support/modification, plus there is a forum specifically to help find those that are searching to provide support.

Thanks in advance.I'm seeking similar functionality for my client too.. here's the short answer to your question..

There is a "Products Purchased" report which should give you what you need in terms of tracking products..

• ID#
• Products

• Purchased

As far as tracking discount codes, there is a gap in the existing Zen Cart functionality.. You have only TWO options here:

1. You can see how may times a particular coupon has been used. From the coupon admin, you can select a coupon and click the "Report" button. You can then see a list of customers with the following information:

• Customer ID
• Customer Name
• IP Address
• Date Redeemed

2. The customer referral option.. You can link a coupon code to a particular customer.. Anytime that coupon is used it will appear on this report..

However there is a THIRD option that I believe you are looking for and what my client is also looking for..

Option 3 would be a separate report (NOT part of the coupon admin) which is similar to the built in coupon "report" option as follows:

• Include the following data:
• Customer ID
• Customer Name
• IP Address (should be OPTIONAL)
• Date Redeemed
• Order #
  
• Order Total
• Print options as follows:
• ALL coupons (broken down by coupon code)
• Specific coupon (s)
• Specific date range

You should be working with Zen Cart v1.5.4.. and in the COWOA support thread I do post the link to the (as yet) unreleased version of COWOA.. MAJOR improvements over v2.4..
