Truncating email_archive

It's HUGE - is it safe to use "SQL Query Executor" to "truncate table email_archive"? Having of course backed it up, if need arises!

Yes.

And, if you no longer want your store to keep a record of outgoing emails, turn that feature off, in Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Email Archiving.
