Any Interest in creating a website of Zen stores to Challenge eBay?

I've had it with ebay,,, actually I've had it for a few months when I started my Zen store.
Problem is, I'm not selling anything on my Zen store.
I get traffic, but not what it needs to be.
So I thought, perhaps, a site of Zen stores to challenge eBay.
Cost would be anywhere from $10 - $20 a month flat rate.
If we can get a couple thousand stores, we'd be a real threat to both eBay and Alibaba.
10's of thousands and we'd be bigger than either.
$10-20 a month should pay all expenses, maybe a
$50 start up to pay support for helping new non zenner's become zenners's
No changes to any store, just a database on a server that the search terms
point to in the various zen stores.
Each store would be independent and have a feedback associated to them.
We can use eBay as a loose role model (barring some of their stupid policies)
for guidance on feedback.

Well what do you think?

You may be on your own here...

Firstly, setting this us would require a lot of time and effort - who pays for that? Have you costed your initial proposal of a few $ ?

Who would provide, edit and manage the CONTENT for this site? Google rankings are determined by CONTENT and RELEVANCY. This - as a simple list of sites - has no value to search engines. It's therefore little more than a directory, and Google actually hates them.

Secondly, I don't want my site(s) appearing in lists that also show up my competitors.

When we launch a new site, we "bite the bullet" and allocate quite large sums of money to adwords, while working feverishly away at good SEO. After a few months we start creeping up the SERPS and using a carefully planned strategy, we reduce our dependncy on AdWords when specific search phrases (used initially in AdWords) start to show results on Google PG 1. No point in having an ad where you're also showing up well on organic.

We have a formula to calculate ROI (return on investment) with this strategy and a search term MUST achieve certain SERP bands within stated milestone timeframes. If it does not meet an expectation, we throw more resources at getting better organic results for it for a month.

Everything here is ROI... So while we spend many thousands each month on adwords, we get our defined and targeted ROI in line with our milestones.

Thanks Schoolboy, after 40 views someone finally spoke up.
Google Mercedes p/n 6170110113 and I'm top 'O the list.
googling MB P/N 1166980101,I'm 5th, so at least around here, does google return websites based on location?
i.e. if you google the 617 p/n am I still top of the list?

Yes I bet you can spend thousands on adwords, and I can understand not wanting your competitor's product to be listed next to yours, BUT in all reality, if you didn't need to spend the thousands on adwords, and relied on an ebay like platform to bring customers to your store, the real competitors are on eBay, and they have locked in to a 10-15% fee to sell their products. Lot more room for profit if you don't have that fee.

Additionally, the ability to not allow more than "X" number of widget sellers could be incorporated if need be.
Or the cost of shipping will determine who sells, i.e. some one in LA doesn't want to pay shipping costs from NYC if a retailer is in LA offering the same item at a slightly higher price.

I foresee waves upon waves of ex-ebayers flocking toward this platform. Not the onezie twozee sellers, but the anchor stores that currently pay $180 per month PLUS 10-15% fees
