new install but admin not found

Hi
I have just installed zen-cart-v1.5.3 via ftp in a subfolder of an existing store to create a new one. I have the store working but cannot access the admin. I had renamed the folder and just couldnt get it to work after trying various renames etc. so I did a complete new install. Again, the store is fine but the admin issue hasnt changed. This time I didn't rename before attempting to access admin. I get the message
mystore/newstore/admin/alert_page.php?zenAdminID=71571a4f410af608e21fb8c531d82254 (port 443)
I tried turning off ssl but this didnt change anything so its back on
any hints??

Thanks

Re: new install but admin not found

Any error messages in the logs folder?

What version is/was the existing store? Php version?

Re: new install but admin not found

log error
[PHP Fatal error: 0:DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED :: select * from project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' in /home/mystore/public_html/includes/classes/db/mysql/query_factory.php on line 120

initial store is in php

however I just tried the original stores admin (store/myadmin) and get an error: WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.
I also tried to see an image within the original store and that works store/image/name

I just deleted the new installation again.... maybe I should not try a new store under an existing store

Re: new install but admin not found

Again, when a message like that is presented then an error log/cache folder depending on what version of ZC the original store is in.

It is perfectly fine if not suggested to install a backup store in a subdirectory of a live store.

Post your includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php files with the
DB_PASSWORD obscured. Enclose between CODE tags generated using the # button above the message response window.

Btw, part of the reason to ask what the message says is to provide guidance to solve the issue. By deleting everything again, the issue is "solved" but not functional.... So when you get it installed again (http://www.zen-cart.com/entry.php?3-How-do-I-rebuild-my-site-on-the-new-version-instead-of-upgrading) and assuming the problem occurs again, maybe the time can be taken to try to resolve the issue not just delete and likely repeat the process to cause the same error again.

Re: new install but admin not found

Not clear what the new problem is, after all the uninstalls, reinstalls, mixed versions, etc.
