Recently upgraded from v1.3.9 to v1.5.4

I followed all the directions to make files writeable etc. I unzipped the 154 version and through my core ftp program renamed my admin folder back to admin from what I previously named it. The first upload attempt I had forgotten to rename this folder.

During 3 attempts at uploading because my server timed out. I finally got a complete upload and went back in and set the files directed back to readable.

Some files over wrote my previous website files/pages (no problem I can re-edit all this)

When I log into my admin I get this message: "Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels."

Viewing my server information it is showing this:
Zen Cart 1.5.4
Database Patch Level: 1.3.9h
v1.3.9h [2010-12-23 13:20:06] (Fresh Installation)
v1.3.9h [2010-12-23 13:20:06] (Fresh Installation)

but my admin check for updates show I am currently running (You are presently using: v1.5.4)

now I am lost as to how to correct this and my host tech support is telling me.
"We tried correcting this problem, but this seems to be out of scope of our support."

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Ultimately should have been following posted guidelines for upgrading your system; however, at least at this point the database is upgraded through the use of uploading the zc_install folder (again), running the Database Upgrade Only... (Do not need to rename other folders or make files writeable...) This process will upgrade your database... That said, I am also fairly certain that I have forgotten to provide other assistive direction, but that answer will at least get to the database upgrade now that you have done a file upgrade... (There may still be other files that need to be removed based on the description of how this upgrade was performed...)

deleted as message was rewritten thinking that the original was not posted. Upon posting, identified that the original had in fact actually been posted.

OK so I need to open the zencart\zc_install\includes\admin_configure.php and (Edit) direct it to my existing database then correct? and then just run the zc_install folder over again?

No.. The files that are provided by downloading ZC say from http://www.zen-cart.com/getit

The same files that should have been used to install your original package (not a one-click install).

Inside that unzipped set of files is a folder called zc_install.

Copy the entire folder (and its contents) to the directory that has your index.php file and folders such as includes, images, the admin directory (hopefully renamed from admin, which by-the-way NEVER post the path to your admin directory...), and some other folders.

There is no changing of any such configure.php file necessary.

Just upload the zc_install folder, then goto your site appending zc_install after whatever you need to access your site:

ie. instead of http:// mystore . biz you would go to http:// mystore . biz /zc_install (all spaces removed)

Or instead of http:// mystore . biz /store you would go to http:// mystore . biz /store/zc_install (again all spaces removed).

That will initiate the zc_install process.

Re: Recently upgraded from v1.3.9 to v1.5.4

Thank you for your assistance on this.

I am just getting back with the latest information thus far.
I have a web designer who has been assisting myself on this upgrade to v.1.5.4 from the v1.3.9 the past week and a half.

We are running into the same problem after creating another database and install of the v1.5.4 version as a new store. the ZC_Install is not initiating and updating the information to the new database. The new store exists but has a red flag showing this: (Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Admin->Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.)

The Admin link shows this: (database upgrade required. please run the 1.3.9-to-1.5.0 upgrade via zc_install) but he explained to me he has the newer files directed to my "Live Store" database at the moment.

He read that the new version of Zencart asks that the server PHP and MySQL be set to 5.5 or higher and the settings now are 5.4 so I contacted Tech Support and they explained that I could go ahead and set these settings higher through my cpanel and it should not effect anything.

My questions are.

  1. while still running v1.3.9 and setting these PHP and MySQL settings higher it will not effect the v1.3.9?

My web assistant believes that the ZC_Install is not initiating because the PHP and MySQL settings are lower then the required 5.5 or higher?
2. what would you recommend us setting these too?

Thanks,
Russ

They're misinformed.
