Slow site, pages not loading - GoDaddy says it's fine

Hi can someone have a flick through my store and see if they get the same issues as myself and my customers: very slow to load, incomplete pages, blank pages (except nav and header)...I get this on both Chrome and Firefox, customers having issues on iPads and desktops but GoDaddy flicked through and said they couldn't replicate it so nothing they can do to help.

These pages are ones I'm having particular issues with, should show categories but it's blank

Customers report issues generally across the site.

Is it a database issue? Not pulling the info in from there? I asked GoDaddy if there's anywhere in cPanel I could find some 'clues' to what's going on but they said no.

Editing to add: my store has the max resources possible, one store away from a VPS they say...so it's not a 'too much traffic' thing.

Activate Admin - Configuration - Logging - Log Page Parse Time and post the results or let us know when it's activated.

I'm pretty sure you'll find it's a server problem, despite your host's protestations to the contrary. You might ask to be moved to a different server even if you're 'one store away...' :laugh:

Parse Time: 44.009 - Number of Queries: 449 - Query Time: 43.88252523

Parse Time: 84.112 - Number of Queries: 536 - Query Time: 83.9458188726

Parse Time: 19.239 - Number of Queries: 451 - Query Time: 19.1170610475

Parse Time: 54.769 - Number of Queries: 468 - Query Time: 54.6200588799

(and I meant I'm one 'step' away from a VPS with the resource package I have...except I don't even come close to maxing out my resources so a VPS would be overkill not to mention way too much money lol)

As the tutorial says, your problem is most likely a database bottleneck. All you can do is advise GoDaddy about the problem (and show them the tutorial) and hope they care.

I am having the same issues on hostgator. The tech I spoke with today said they were forced to make some changes to their servers to keep the cpanel current. This created lots of issues and they are having to write patches for it because everything isn't playing nicely. Not sure how much I believe but after a month I have a guy that doesn't sound like he is just spouting the company line that everything is fine. So not sure why I shouldn't believe it.

Just wish they would be a bit more clear, not brush us off with it's fine, or sorry we can't replicate, or 'we are working on it' ... on what? Tell us and we might be a bit more understanding in the face of lost sales!

I called them on the 13th of March, and they said that they are aware of the problem and are presently working on it.

I called a few days later and they said that they are still working on it.

I emailed today and COMPLAINED to Katie and Bill... waiting reply.

CALL AND COMPLAIN! LETS COMPLAIN UNTIL THIS GETS FIXED!

MY SALES HAVE FALLEN TO THE FLOOR. I CANNOT EVEN WORK IN ZENCART ADMIN WITHOUT GETTING ERROR PAGE EVERY OTHER CLICK.

All zencart admins on godaddy BEWARE and check your site multiple times because some minutes it is okay, then a few minutes later it is slow or worse!

Is this happening with shared hosting?

I was able to make contact with someone higher up in godaddy, and I got an almost immediate reply stating that my case would be escalated, and very quickly thereafter I received a reply from support regarding my ticket.

MY site appears to be back to normal, and I received an order from a customer shortly thereafter...

Orders are back to normal, BUT how many sales were lost, and more importantly, how many customers were lost!

Well, sales have been slow again for the last few days, and today I was working in admin when I began getting 500 internal server error, and checking my store's front end, it is SLOW too.

It looks like whatever the godaddy issue was, has surfaced again!

1 - You'll need to upgrade to a dedicate server
or
2 - Request that you be moved to the newer (non legacy) servers.

1 - costs more based on your needs and will keep you away from the crowd on a shared server.

2 - although this would be a shared server also it's usually no added cost and comes with a host of benefits including new cPanel and local database management.

Your reply brings up 2 QUESTIONS:

Why do you assume that I am not on a newer (non legacy) server, and why do you assume the problem is due to "the crowd"?

Do you know what the problem is/was/is? Everything worked fast and problem free up until the time around this thread. Then (before I found this thread) I began experiencing problems. I called godaddy, and they said that they have a known issue and are working on it. Then I found this thread. Then I complained higher up, and the issue was fixed (or temporairly...) for a (few) day(s?). Then I noticed the problem again today.

So based on your reply, can I assume that you know what the cause of the "issue/problem" is that godaddy is/was/is working to fix that effected a number of sites? Please share because godaddy has yet to explain what "it" is exactly.

I've been through this before with clients using GoDaddy.

You can imagine the headache they create for themselves overloading servers... they won't explain what's wrong.

Taking my advice solved the problems for my clients without repeat.

And, if GoDaddy can't speed up the overloaded server they've got you on, it's better to move to a hosting company who actually focuses on making the servers fast instead of oversold.
