Cannot edit main page from Tools/Define page editor

I am starting over from scratch. Had my template installed and working, decided to change the main page. First thing I noticed was there was no where to change font, font size or even a save button. So I went and changed everything on the php. I still had a blank page. I went to bed and now today I don't even have my template change. I went in and deleted the php for the main page, downloaded a zencart 1.54 and replaced the page with the original define main page. My question is am I supposed to have the options like I did on all the previous tools/define page editor? And where did my template go? So confused here.

Did you install an HTML editor in the new installation? None is included in the stock Zencart files anymore. Look in the Plugins area for CKEditor.

I downloaded ckeditor as it was the only editor for 1.54. I installed everything. The editor shows up but only 4 of the boxes in the top 2 rows show up. I tried saving it as my editor in admin/configure/my store/html editor It would not save. I went to define main page, it did let me copy in all the info I wanted but there is no way to save it. I went back to filezilla and rechecked all the files for ckeditor and they were all there. I shut down the computer restarted it and tried again. I got the same thing. My question is will the one below work since all it says is version 1.5.0?

Or could I have another problem since I still can't figure out how I lost my template. It's there it worked last night. I have deleted it and reinstalled it and still no luck getting it back. At this point I am ready for a drink and I don't drink.
