Online Store not opening

Is there any one out there that can help me. I am not a programmer but I have basic understanding of HTML code. I thought Zen cart was suppose to be user friendly but it is not now I can't even view or preview My Store it just takes me to my website's index (home) page.

I am just about bald from pulling my hair out have been working (user) computers for 30 years since my Apple 2E and never have I seen anything so complicated!

I can't even figure out how to read messages in my inbox.

How did you install Zencart? What is the URL of your site? Is your store installed in the root (top) directory, or in a subdirectory? What exactly are you seeing when you try to go to your store?

Do you mean that an index.html page is presented in the browser? Instead of index.php?

Not sure about a zencart inbox?

I just followed the instructions to install zencart. I was able to click online store and it would take me to my store but then I downloaded another template Carlisle Fresh 1.1 and followed those instructions and now when I click on the online store it takes me to my home page alpinesurvival.com/index.html. I am very frustrated I have been working on computers since 1983 but I am not a programmer although I have limited basic knowledge about html code. Steve asked about index.html vs index.php. where would I check to see if this is in my code?

If there is a index.html file in the root directory, that will send visitors to your domain's home page. If Zencart were installed in the root, adding /index.php to the domain should load it. It doesn't, which suggests that Zencart is installed in a subdirectory (folder). Is it? What do you mean by 'when I click on the online store'?

Yes the zen cart is a sub directory to my main website. When I am in the admin area of zencart there is a 'Online Store' tab at the top of the menu bar. When I click on that it takes me to my home page not the store. It use to take me to the store until I downloaded the Carlisle Fresh template (I like the looks of that template better the what came with zencart) anyway the same thing happens when I go to the 'select template' under tools. It has a place to preview but that takes me to my home page as well.

Where would I put the index.php code. I wish there was someone I could hire to set all this up because I am at my wits end!

I'd try posting your question in the support thread for that template. Anne is very good about supporting her creations.

If your site works OK other than that link, I'd just let it go and access your store directly. I've been using Zencart for ten years now and have never clicked on that admin link.

Can't think of a reason the template would affect the admin area. Does the issue persist when the active template is temporarily returned to a previous template? What are the content of the includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php (admin path and DB_PASSWORD obscured)? Please place each between CODE tags generated by clicking on the # symbol in the message response toolbar.

So you are saying that you currently have a index.html website and you want to replace it with a zencart installation?

OR

You have an index.html website and you desire zencart to replace or interact with 'parts' of your html website?

A link to your zencart installation might help diagnose the situation in addition to providing the information mc12345678 suggested. You have provided the address for your html site but not your zencart subdirectory.

If you have an index.html and index.php file in the root directory, the index.html file will take priority over the index.php file. The zencart installation automatically places the index.php file according to parameters entered during the installation process.

Did you check to see if it's in mantainece mode?
