Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

Is it possible to have horizontal tabs on the category pages (like you can on the product info pages)?

My products have a lot of technical info (like features, warranty, dimensions, colors, how to operate, etc) which is the same for each product model . It would be great if this information could be stored in tabs that expand when clicked, since there is so much to stuff to look through.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

Can the contents of the tabs (regardless of what page they are on) be "included" from a file, so that if/when the info has to be update, I only have to edit the included file? Also, this way, I can be sure that it is always the same on each place it is shown.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Never mind, I found it here

I am happy that you figured it out.

I have my website configured sufficiently and now need to work on the cell phone version. Which file is responsible for the look and feel and menus?

If you look at the site using chrome and the developer tools, it will tell you which file you need to edit. Make sure that you have one of the phone emulators selected and that you have reloaded the page.

Thanks,

Anne

Has anyone successfully used Stock by Attributes 1.5.3 with Responsive Sheffield Blue V 2.0 ?

I gave it a try today on brand new vanilla 1.5.5-beta with only Responsive Sheffield Blue V 2.0. It broke the admin area--all I get is a blank page and the install script in the admin area also did not work - just gave me a blank screen.

I could really use these both together. Anybody have experience with this?

TIA

Any stable, properly installed plugin will work with the template package.

Thanks,

Anne

Yes, you can take a look at how the tabs are done on the product info page and then copy the code/javascript over to your category descriptions.

I am sure that this is possible but I can not give you instructions on how to do this. See the readme.html file for a link to the authors site for the responsive tabs used.

You have "bad" code in this ezpage that has broken the responsive layout. Run the page through the w3c validator to get an idea of where the problem is occurring.

Anne

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

Hi Anne,

We sell locks (e.g. push button, keypad, proximity card, fingerprint, WiFi, etc). Our products have a lot of features, variations, and tech info which customers really do need to know to choose one that will work for their door. (if interested, see keylessentrylocks.com).

To make this template work for us, we need to present that info in a way that is usable and easy to look through. So, we would like to know....

  1. Can we add more tabs on the product info pages? Ideally, we would need tabs for the following info, some of which could probably be combined. However, there is so much info on each one that it is hard to look through it all to find what you want. Instead, it really seems to help to have the info separated into multiple tabs like perhaps:

  2. features

  3. dimensions

  4. how to install, change the code, lock/unlock

  5. warranty/support

  6. related items

  7. reviews

  8. And, is it possible to modify the contents of the "Details" tab so that some of the above info can go there?

  9. And, can we change the title and contents of the "Reviews" tab, as we are using an 3rd party review service and would like their reviews to show up in that box.

  10. Would the above be custom mods to core files? We are hoping not, as this can make maintenance and future upgrades difficult, error prone, and time consuming.

TIA

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

Maybe the wrong thread, but I was messing with the taxes and shipping yesterday and as I look at my Sheffield template page today, the bottom and right menus are gone and it is asking me to install and configure local sales tax. I checked everything and as far as I can see there is nothing TO install or configure. The side menus show on the other pages just not on the main or in the shop categories. I have no clue what went wrong, if anyone has an idea?

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue v2.0

I just upgraded to ZenCart 1.5.4 and want to switch to a responsive template. I'm looking at the install instructions for Sheffield Blue and am concerned about the install overwriting core files in the admin folder and other folders. I thought we were supposed to use the override system and CUSTOM folder names, etc. and never overwrite core files. It's been a while since I installed a new template, but that is my memory of what I did.
I also want the option of switching back and forth between my old template and this new one (while I'm testing things) and it would seem that overwriting core files would eliminate that option.
I'm sorry to ask such a basic question, but I don't want to mess things up before I start.
Thanks for any clarification you can provide.

Okay so messing with it again today this problem appeared after adding a product. After I delete the product again everything is normal. So where am I missing something? Apparently the product page is not finding any tax information or something. COnfused

You can add as many tabs as you need. Since all of them will likely not fit on a small phone screen, you will need to figure out a way to present the info on small screens and make adjustments.

This can be done without modifying any core files.

Thanks,

Anne

Messing with the shipping or taxes would have no effect on the template files. My guess is that you made a mistake before this and did not notice it. I would recommend restoring a working back up.

Thanks,

Anne

As the readme.html file instructions state, you should back up any core files that are modified before you install the template. If you want to switch back to another template you can restore your backups of the files.

Thanks,

Anne

Without a link to the page that has the problem I am only guessing, but maybe you have "bad" code in your product descriptions that is breaking the responsive layout.

Thanks,

Anne
