Page not found for admin page

Hi guys.

For some odd reason I cant seem to get into my admin panel at all. All it seems to do is redirect me to my website and to page saying page not found!

Any idea how this could have happened and what I should do to fix this issue?

Thanks guys.

Re: Page not found for admin page

You're getting a 404 Page Not Found error? That means the page you're trying to point your browser to doesn't exist. Have you checked to make sure you have the name of your custom admin folder correct?

Re: Page not found for admin page

Yes I have checked the folder and the custom name is correct. Im not sure why it keeps going to that page. Is there anything that I might need to change to make sure that it points to the admin page?

Re: Page not found for admin page

Do you have an .htaccess file in the root (top) directory of your store, or any sort of URL-rewriting mod installed?

Re: Page not found for admin page

BOF SSU

Options +FollowSymLinks -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On

Make sure to change "zencart" to the subfolder you install ZC. If you use root folder, change to: RewriteBase /

#RewriteBase /zencart/
RewriteBase /

Deny access from .htaccess

RewriteRule ^.htaccess$ - [F]

RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.+) index.php/$1 [E=VAR1:$1,QSA,L,PT]

alternative rewrite rule, seem to work on GoDaddy hosts http://codeigniter.com/wiki/Godaddy_Installaton_Tips/

to use it, please make sure you comment out the rewrite rule above, then uncomment the line below

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?$1 [L]

EOF SSU

Re: Page not found for admin page

That looks like "Simple SEO URLs"; Not "CEON URI Mapping".

That said nothing jumping out in the .htaccess at a quick glance (if the file or folder exists it is not doing any rewriting).

When did this start? What version of PHP is in use? Link to the site (feel free to obscure if you feel you must)? Answers to the other questions asked in the "Posting Tips"?

Are you saying you are first redirected to ```
your-site.com

Re: Page not found for admin page

have you checked the file:

NAME_OF_YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER/includes/configure.php

if that file got overwritten and the admin is not properly set there, it may cause this problem....

Re: Page not found for admin page

This started yesterday. Before that the admin panel was working fine. When I go to the admin page it will take me to my website and give an error 404 page. How do I make sure that admin configure.php file is set properly?

Thanks

Re: Page not found for admin page

just to make sure i understand; everything was working properly 2 days ago; and then yesterday it stopped working? were you attempting to do an upgrade from v1.5.3 to v1.5.4? or are you saying you did nothing, and now you can no longer get to the admin page?

if you are saying you did NOTHING, that would be very curious. some one could have hacked your site.... your hosting company may have changed something... who knows... i think the odds of that happening are slim, but that said the troubleshooting remains the same.

if you were upgrading, then you did something wrong in the upgrade. if you could get to the admin page previously, and then changed the directory/folder where the admin was, and now you can not get to it, that would indicate a problem with the configure file where you need to make changes to accurately reflect what your folder name is. the 2 variables in there are:

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/ADMIN_PLACE/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/ADMIN_PLACE/');

more than that, you would have to start looking at the access logs or perhaps to using the developer tools to see if you are getting redirected to somewhere else that does not exist. i have found .htaccess files at the root as well as in the admin folder so perhaps one of those is adrift...

good luck.

Re: Page not found for admin page

Are you getting the error " page not found" or are you unsure of how to reach it?

To reach it, http:/your domain.com/youradminfolder

If it is in a sub directory, add that : http:/your domain/shop/youradmin folder

Re: Page not found for admin page

In you configure.php, 2 files, what do you have for your settings? Look here to see if it helps?
[url]https://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?307-configurephp-file-contents-explained[\url]

Can you get to your site? Can I see the site?

Re: Page not found for admin page

You only need those permissions to edit the files, then when you are finished set the permissions back to 444. Look in the file configure.php in admin/includes directory. Check that the paths look correct. If you don't see any error you can post them here but be sure not to put any private stuff.

Can you get to the front end of your store?

To get to the admin you would enter http://your store.com/admin where admin is the name that you changed that directory to.

When you state "admin" you are referring to your renamed admin folder - correct - and not actually "admin"

Please note that, as of Zen Cart v1.5.0, the admin folder name (see the highlighted section above) is *programmatically *determined -- it's no longer necessary to hand-edit the /YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php file when you change your admin folder's name.
