Changing COD to Send Payment Request?

So I want to add an option to send a payment request to the customers. Like having paypal send a request for payment through email, but it's a different company like paypal. Anyway I was thinking the easiest way to do this would be to Rename the Cash on Delivery module. Are there any problems I could run into or anything I should be aware of before doing so?

You might be better off "cloning" the COD payment module (https://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?101109-Payment-Module-Cloning-Question). That way, it's easier to keep your customizations intact when you upgrade from Zen Cart v1.3.9g to v1.5.4 (hint, hint).

I'll let Ajeh speak for herself, but the couple of "Direct Bank Deposit" payment modules appear to be "clones" of COD. "Clones" in the sense that the COD module was used as the basis for the new payment module.

Cloning Money Order is just cleaner than trying to clone COD or conflicting with anything COD related ... it is a personal choice that I prefer ...

Okay, good to know. I will plan on cloning the Money order module instead then. If you say it's cleaner, I will go with the way less likely for me to screw something up. Thanks all!

Update, so I found the old "paypal request" mod through the links provided, and decided to just modify the text and use that instead. Just felt more safe for me to make sure I didn't screw something up.
