Product ADDED but not searchable? - WHAT DID I DO WRONG

Okay, I'm sure this is an easy one that I am simply overlooking.

I am working on a custom script to automatically ADD PRODUCTS from my vendor. You see, they release new products daily, so my script is reading from their web services, importing the products, and updating it into our zencart store.

I am 99.9% there! I have the products import and show up fine on the store front. In other words, I can go to New Products and see them there. I am updating the Products table, Products Description table, and Products to Categories table.

However, I must be missing something, because when I log into my Admin Panel and try to SEARCH for the newly added product, it doesn't show up.

Is there a table or a field that I am not updating which would cause a product to not return when I search for them by name in the Admin area?

Is a master_categories_id being added on the new Products in the table:
products

Is there a record for the New Product in the table:
products_to_categories

If so, does the:
categories_id

in the table:
products_to_categories

match the:
master_categories_id

in the table:
products

Yes, the master_category_id is set to a value which matches one of my existing categories.

Yes, I have three records in there, pointing the product to three different categories.

If so, does the:
categories_id
in the table:
products_to_categories
match the:
master_categories_id
in the table:
products

NO. The master_category_id is 31.......and the three records in the products_to_categories table point to three different values: 1, 3, and 4.

Should there also be a record in the products_to_categories which also points to the master_category as well?

I am at a loss here, because this has to be simple!

But when I log into the Admin panel and try to search for "FROGY" or anything else in that title, no records are returned.

Products need a record in the table:
products
products_description
products_to_categories

The table:
products_to_categories

need to contain at a minimum a matching categories_id to the master_categories_id in the table products ...

Also, do you see a new Product in your Admin?

Ajeh - I think that was it. I wasn't adding the MASTER_CATEGORY_ID as a separate listing to the products_to_categories table.

I was under the (false) assumption that the product_to_categories table was just for ADDITIONAL linked categories, separate from the master category which is defined in the products table.

Now I know that you also need the master category id listed in the products_to_categories table AS WELL AS in the products table.

This sounds like it would be a great add-on..... Did you get it working? Any updates or thoughts on releasing?
