Can zen cart be used on any site?

I was wondering if zen cart can be used on any website or just on what is built through zen? I currently already have a website but am looking for a cart to put on it

It depends on what you're asking. Zencart isn't an add-on cart script for existing HTML sites, but it can be installed on most any server. The best way to use Zencart is to make it your whole site.

Alternatively you could install ZC in a separate folder of your existing site such as yourdomain.com/store and then put a link into your existing site.

Or create a subdomain such as store.yourdomain.com which makes it easier to install an SSL cert on that subdomain.

Thanks for the advice, I have decided to download and look at re-building my site, although am still finding it all a bit confusing, but will get there in the end, unfortunately i'm not up on the web building, or anything computers really!

Well, there's backups that can be made in the event of an error to be undone, there are generally instructions on how to apply changes, and if either they are not understood or non-existent there are threads for existing plugins or the ability to just "ask a question" after some research... Worst case someone else ends up does it for you.

But, everyone started somewhere with ZC, so welcome aboard. :)

An add on to the previous post! I am trying to understand how all this works, am a little confused as I'm not that good with computers! But I have my website with webs.com, is it possible to integrate it on that, or do I set up a new site through zen? I don't mind rebuilding if it's going to work out better. Or is this cart option too advanced for a novice like me? :blink:

As to the capabilities, if can follow directions, willing to search first and then know when to stop and ask directions, then ZC should work for you.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you're limited to their website builder and templates if you use webs.com, and I don't see any mention of database support. You can also do much better pricing-wise.
