Anomaly: includes/languages/english/images/icon.gif

Am having an issue with includes/languages/english/images/icon.gif and getting the correct image to show up when I enter a new category. In live store, I replaced the icon.gif with a different flag image. I did this by modifying gif file and keeping name same. Works fine in live 1.39h store. Uploaded same revised icon.gif image to demo 1.54 store/includes/languages/english/images/ folder. It still showed up the original flag image. Here is what I've tried so far:

  • cleared cache, closed/re-opened browser
  • renamed icon.gif to iconx.gif on server, hoping it would give me error not being able to find image. no, it still opened with original image
  • deleted icon.gif on server, hoping it would give error finding no image in folder. no, it still opened with original image
  • Checked tools/developer to see if anything going on there. Both live store and demo results were identical, showing languages.php was the file looking for icon.gif.
  • Checked image on FTP server in above referenced folder to ensure correct image uploaded. yes.

Is there another place I need to look or have I missed any steps? Thank you!

Template override directory?

How certain are you that the "desired" image is even supposed to be in the languages directory and not the templates directory or just simply the images directory? Baased on the description of the issue it seems like it is impossible to be anywhere else...

It should be in the language folder because it is the language flag icon. I think you just did not clean the cache, even though you think/said you did , or there may be some sort of other caching done by your server

Re: Anomaly: includes/languages/english/images/icon.gif

Are you talking about the flag image that appears within Admin categories and products?

If so, yes you already know that is the path. If you try a different browser, does the image appear as expected?

If you rightclick, show image info, does the path match? Probably a cache issue.

Link to your live or demo installation?

Re: Anomaly: includes/languages/english/images/icon.gif

Yes, I am talking about the flag image that appears within Admin categories and products. Got the path trail of mystore/includes/languages/english/images/icon.gif from right click/properties when I was in category. Tried another browser, same thing, old image. Am working with non IE browsers on XP machine (Sea Monkey and Pale Moon), as IE latest I can get on XP is not helpful at all. Will clear cache again and try machine re-start when I can get some of these things wrapped up to a place to be able to restart without losing work, as it sure could be a caching issue where I'm not clearing like I think.

You were right about the server. Contacted host after doing search in FTP and finding there was simply only ONE icon.gif in the whole demo store folder, so it didn't seem it was getting mixed up with any other images/locations. Host reset server cache, and showed me where to find settings in control panel, and now USA flag shows vs standard one that comes with install. Thank you for the tip.
