coupon admin v 1.5.x

i have made several attempts to get the coupon admin to capture the coupon code that i set. i place the code just after the sub-total (sub total 100, coupon 110) then the total at 999. site asks me for a code which i enter, but it never reflects in the total purchase upon "confirm order" after entering CC info.

i do not think that the coupon code should be at 100 then the subtotal at 110, that really makes no sense, because what amount does the discount reflect if it is calculated first? i have set the code to 99, but that did not work either.

it is just not 'capturing' the coupon during the checkout process.

i have read and followed all instructions for the coupon admin. i would really like this to work so i can promote the site more.

thanks in advance..very anxious

What, if any, add-on plugins do you have installed?

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

When you enter the coupon, try not adding your Credit card info; just add the coupon code and press enter. You will get an error that payment details are required, but you should also see a message saying the coupon was successfully added, and the coupon code should be shown under the box where you entered it.

Does this work?

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

Are you sure you are entering the coupon code (middle of the admin screen) and not the name, which is at the top of the admin screen?

In admin-modules-order total, it ot_coupon enabled?

Can you try this on the classic template to see if it's a template issue?

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

so just fyi, i used check/money order instead of credit card payment. top message turned green said 'congrats, you have sucessful redeemed you coupon' (that was a first) but the order total was not changed, and i processed the order. no changes in the order amount.

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

OK so now double check the amount in coupon admin. It should be a number possibly with a % sign after it. No $ or other non-numeric character in front of it.

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

correct, i tried both a 10% and 10.00 off amount, always making sure my purchase was more than the dollar amount limit.

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

What are your settings on the Modules ... Order Total ...

These are the default settings, if you use different settings, is there a reason?

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

ok, i found some old threads about coupons and started trying different things. i found that the free shipping box was checked, so i unchecked it. it worked...ahh but not so fast..it only worked with an alternate payment method and not the NMI module that takes the credit card info. (worked with payment by check or money order)

so i am sure there is a line of code in the NMI module that does not take into account any discounts and captures the total to be charged to the credit card from some other place rather than the grand total.

Re: coupon admin v 1.5.x

I haven't heard of NMI but there are a whole bunch of osCommerce payment modules that don't properly handle discounts; yours might have a similar problem.
The guidance I wrote on this topic won't exactly convert to Zen Cart since the filenames, etc. are different but it might give you some ideas.

Alternately, you could just switch to a standard payment module such as Authorize.net or Paypal which is well supported by Zen Cart.
