Tagging products

I'm looking for a way to add a tag or tag line to our products, preferably a plugin. I've read through many of the posts but these all seem to very old. (searched Tags and "product tags", "hashtags" and terms such as these). I haven't been able to find much relating to adding a tag or multiple tags to products.
I'd love someone to point me in the right direction as I'm not having much luck at finding anything.

Perhaps if you could provide an example? Are you talking about something always seen or something like a title tag that's seen on hover?

Something that shows up in the product page, below the description.
Opencart has a fairly nice layout of what I am looking to do, example:

I thought I saw something very close to this on ZC sometime back, but can't locate it again.
