specials.html and reviews.html in admin point to site not admin

Hi,
When I hit the link in the admin to Catalog > Specials it opens the actual website page - not the admin page to control it. The same thing happens with Reviews. If I view source (or hold my mouse over the link) I can see it is the path to the website while all the other options have "admin/" in the url.

There are Specials in there - they are at the site...but I can't access them to update.

Do I need to make some change in the database - or is there some other admin configuration I'm missing?

You didn't supply a link to the site. What happens if you switch temporarily back to the Classic template?

Do you have some kind of URL Rewriter installed?

These links should be pointing to .php pages NOT .html pages.

The filenames are NOT stored in the database, but the database does have a 'definition key' for the names of the files, with the actual filenames being found in the /includes/filenames.php file - But the entries here contains the page name only (with neither a .php or .html extension) - The .php extension is added automatically.
In short, other than a URL rewriter I can't imagine what else could cause the results that you are seeing/getting.

Off the top of my head, can't recall what definition directs the link to go to a specific location when browsing the admin menu, but yes there is more than likely something awry with either the database or a file definition or both...

That said, you could access the specials.php file and or the reviews.php file by typing it into the browser path:

Site/admin/specials.php

Thanks for the fast response all. I guess I've been looking the site for too long - I tried adding in the admin/ but complete ignored the html/php. Yes, Site/admin/specials.php worked to get me in. I look into the other replies/solutions...thanks again.

It was a somewhat silly/pointless suggestion really (It was sure to work, unless the page files were missing), but that would be a completely different problem than the one you are reporting.

Yes it is silly/pointless to provide the direct path to allow the OP to perform the action that was initially attempted and then to solve the reason why not able to do things the way expected/desired... Not like a sale/or incorrect sale could have any affect on a live store. Or stated another way: silly/pointless to provide the path (unknown in full by the OP) that was not resolving as expected for a yet to be identified unknown reason.. Hmmm... Yup, I'd say feisty...
