Additional "Zone Rates" option, based on order total

I am wondering if the following can be done:

I have used the Zone Rates shipping module to set up shipping prices for different parts of the world, depending on the weight of the items. These are shipping rates for insured, traceable shipping. This is nice.

However I would like to give customers an additional, more economical shipping option for orders below a certain total price. So, e.g. for orders <$50, I want to offer a cheaper, non-traceable shipping options, either in addition to the former, or to replace it. This cheaper shipping option must also be set up with different prices depending on destination and total weight.

How can I do this?

Simply clone your Zone Rates module (there is a plugin for this: https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=977 ) and then configure the clone accordingly.

Thank you for your reply. I considered this option, but: In each of the two Zone Rates clones (the original and the one you suggest to add), I would choose "weight" as my method of calculation, because this is how the rates should be calculated. However, for orders above, say, $50 without shipping, I will NOT offer the alternative, cheaper (and more insecure) shipping method (i.e. the Zone Rates clone).

I would know how to set this up if I didn't want to offer this method on orders above a certain weight (since weight is my calculation method), namely by simply setting up a shipping table that only mentions shipping prices up until a certain weight. But the thing is, I don't want to restrict the second Zone Rates on weight, I want to restrict it on price -- while it still calculates shipping prices after weight.
