How can someone be viewing an item that is disabled?

I created a store category called lost/misplaced. It is disabled.
I move parts to this category when I realize that I misplaced them, or lost them.

Well I was checking who's online and the link showed that the customer was in the disabled category, looking at a disabled item.

How can anyone find an item if it's disabled?

I searched for the part number in my store and found nothing. But I did a Google search and Google showed the item's previous category.

I guess I need to change my sitemap as I suppose google or some search engine is returning items from the lost/misplaced category.

Wow I just answered my own question,,, never mind,,, aint this fun,,,

Re: How can someone be viewing an item that is disabled?

Initially you say that the category was disabled, was/is the product disabled as well? Have you made any modifications to the site to allow the disabled product to be seen? What is the action that the site is set to do if a product doesn't exist?

I found that I was able to disable a product, type the uri to go to it (ie search engine directed) and it would appear on who's online as if I were at that product, though onscreen displayed the "Sorry, the product was not found." message for a vanilla install of ZC with the test data/setup...
