Additional Images suddenly not showing across 4 different websites

This one has me stumped - 4 different websites (all same template, all responsive, all v151) - I have been adding new products over the past few days and in all cases the additional images are not showing up on the product info page(s) for these new products, everything else is OK. Products listed prior to this period are still loading additional images as they should be. Image naming format is still the same for new images. Have not made any changes whatsoever to admin or template or anything other than listing new products. = very strange !!

Any ideas on what I should be looking at?

File permissions of the newly added images? (compare with those that are working).

In what order were the product/additional images added? What is being used to do that? Is filename of main product one of the "additional" images? (Might be able to answer that question if the site(s) were provided)

Products were added via categories/new_product, as always, using the main image (not one with suffix) - images are in the imagename_001 etc format, as always - main image loads, no problem at all.
websites are https://www.harmonyball.net.au (items 668 thru to 690) https://www.harmonyballpendant.com (items 668,669,670 - ceased adding when issue found) - most of these items will have 2 additional images - also tried adding one new product HBP070 to https://www.treeoflifejewellery.com and https://www.treeoflifejewellery.com.au to see what would happen - this item should have one additional image.

Like I say, somewhat confusing.

Thanks Rod - will check this out but like I say I didn't alter anything or change my procedure. Could it possibly a host memory issue??, i.e. my memory at host account is over limit? That wouldn't explain primary images loading OK though would it?

This is possible, but only on account of the fact that the limit may mean that the files/images weren't able to be uploaded to the server in the 1st place. Not really a memory limit (which it won't be), but a disk usage limit.

No, not really - if the files are on the server, the server would have any way to even 'know' the difference between the new images and the existing images.

FWIW, the reason I suggested that you compare the file permissions was actually twofold. Firstly to see if the permissions were different, and secondly I was half expecting you to report back here telling us that you couldn't even find the new files to compare with - IOW - They aren't being shown because they don't even exist on the server. As suggested - This could occur if you've exceeded your allotted disk space.

This part of your comment made a penny drop - I switched my ftp client from Filezilla to WinSCP a while back and I had an issue a few weeks back with some files not showing up on a site even though WinSCP said they had transferred - contacted host and they confirmed files were not on their server. I just checked file manager in cPanel and the images I recently uploaded aren't there, I opened Filezilla and transferred one (additional) image to test - it worked - so again WinSCP has failed to upload.

I am switching back to Filezilla full time now as it has never let me down, pity because I liked the WinSCP format.

So sorry about the alarm - I probably should have checked the server before posting.

Although a lot of 'security conscience' people suggest not using FileZilla (mainly on account that if you let it store the login passwords, it stores them as plain text) it is still my preferred FTP client - and like you, it has never let me down.

As long as you keep hackers out of the computer running FileZilla you have nothing to fear. :-)

Although I'm sure it isn't alone, but as well as just FTP'ing files to the server, I find its ability to compare local/remote files in conjunction with its ability to perform synchronized browsing an indispensable development tool.

No worries. You aren't the first person to have been caught out this way, and you certainly won't be the last.

My suggestion to check the permissions - and (intentionally) not even considering (or mentioning) other possibilities was a subtle game of probability. I reckon I had a least a 99% chance that this would lead to the cause, based on previous experience. ;-)

So, also saying that upload your images using ftp and not through the product info page... Got it... (If so should load additional images and then the main image.)

If that wasn't the image reuploaded as described above, do all of your functional folders have a space in one of the folder names?

If you DO have folder names or filenames like this (ie: containing a space character - Represented here with the '%20') please be advised that they should be avoided at all costs.

Although a lot of the time it won't be a problem, there are some instances and situations where they just won't work like you'd expect them too. In fact if you hadn't found the problem as being missing files or permissions, this is the next most likely culprit. I ruled this out as a suspect on your current case on account that a problem caused by this would be imagename or category specific (depending on which has the space), where as your problem was specific to new additions only. That means it was still a possibly, but far less likely.

It is definitely something to be aware of though, spaces in filenames can also be the cause of FTP upload failures.
