Plain text newsletters

So all my emails (newletters) look how I want them to in the preview but when sent to my test accounts (I have 3 and two of them are html and one is text preferred option)
All of them come through as plain text. No links or logo.
I even changed Email Admin Format to HTML and no changes happened.
I cleared the browser cache lots of times and opened and close my email program, no changes.

I would like to be able to send a plain text email with logo and a link to the website.
I've replaced the email/header.jpg with the logo of the same file name header.jpg also.
If anyone would help I'd appreciate it, I've read heaps of threads but none have actually been able to resolve this for me.

You can not add an image to a plain text mail, because it is plain text.
Did you check if the program you use for viewing the mails is set to receive html mails?

Hi Kobra, Sorry for the delayed response.
I have checked in admin>customers>edit and they are set to subscribed and html. I resent the newsletter and it just through as plain text still.

Well that makes sense. Ok so no clickable links in plain text emails.
I am still getting the html emails as plain text still even though the test customers are "subscribed"and html is checked.

Is your test customer the same as an admin email?
Then you need to set
admin->Configuration->E-Mail Options->Email Admin Format? to HTML
(you said you have done this)

as well you need to have...
admin->Configuration->E-Mail Options->Enable HTML Emails? to true

Re: Plain text newsletters

That would then be - which you already have set to true

Enable HTML Emails

Suggest that you enable Email Archiving Active
and get the plugin for managing them from your admin
This way you can see what ZenCart is generating

I have been concentrating on another project but now I am back to this. I did as you said. I am using the email archive addon and when I look at the archives under FORMAT it says TEXT ! .
Any ideas on what to do next?

Hi Kobra,
I received 2 emails. Thanks for persevering with me.
The first being the Welcome email (that is in html).
The second one which I gather is the Newsletter, has one sentence in burgundy colour text and the other sentence is in blue text.
The blue text is larger than the burgundy text.

I received 2 emails.
The presentation of an image is also indicating HTML
So the answer is yes

Re: Plain text newsletters

I went to my email folder and looked at the email_template_newsletters file. It was blank in there. So I put some html in there and sent the newsletter via the admin and voila. I received it in html.
Is this what I was supposed to do all along?
Html doesn't work if entered straight in newsletter rich content editor though.
So I guess for text receiving clients I'll use the newsletter editor and for the html newsletters I'll use the email_template_newsletters

Also just noticed when I send text emails there is now a working link. It seems the html I put into email_template_newsletters has jolted it all into working ok :)
Thanks for helping out Kobra , appreciate your time.

Re: Plain text newsletters

When I access admin > tools > Newsletter and Product Notifications Manager > new newsletter

I am presented with 2 windows
One for Rich Text Content:
and one for
Text-Only Content:

Do you also see these 2 windows??

I went to my email folder and looked at the email_template_newsletters file. It was blank in there.
Well that might be the issue - get a fresh download and have a look
It should have this contained in it
