There seems to be a problem connecting to our database

Hi,
I thought I had this sorted then this hapened...

I have a current website and I have a zencart shop on it all working great for a few years now.

I have purchased another domain from my web host and installed zencart onto it. now my original website is stating that it is offline... https://www.craftjam.co.uk

why would it take my website offline? Is it to do with databases?

Thank you
Amy

This means the database credentials in your configure.php files are incorrect.

Re: There seems to be a problem connecting to our database

Think I may have sorted it. I think I have possibly changed the password for the wrong database...

Re: There seems to be a problem connecting to our database

Ok,
That all got fixed however now on my new site giftsjam.co.uk I get this message.. WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.

I have checked both config files and they match all logins on the database.

Is this still a database issue?

Thank you
Amy

Not necessarily, but you should now have at least one error log in your cache directory (assuming you are actually using ZC 1.5.0)

Yup, a database issue.

Using trusty phpmyadmin, take a look at the database that is associated with this store (old store right?) Verify that there are tables listed, then assuming that there are only about 97 tables, identify the full name of the first few tables.

That's actually a good thing based on the desired result that was posted in another thread. Need to now import your old store's database to this new store that is supposed to be the same version as the previous store.

The understanding comes from the log file generated by that error being caused. Back to the cache directory.

Also, admin wont let me knog in. I have done new password request and created new and it wtill wont let me in.
Is that related to the issue also?

I will look back at the log.

Do you think maybe I should just re install zencart! Just in case something didnt work properly?

Thanks

Okay, so as it stands, your new site has new configure.php files but all of the same other files from your old site.
Your new database has everything that your old database has.

Am I correct so far?

If that is the case, then other than the file paths, the HTTP... Related fields and the DB_ stuff if you either post your old and new includes/configure.php files or compare the two and change just the few remaining differences, should be good to go. Any other "errors" would be related to files not fully making it to the new server location intact.

Re: There seems to be a problem connecting to our database

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, been working on it all day and night! Sorte it all and made it latin1 like my other site.

Everything seems fine until I go to categories/ products to list items and I have the error message...
WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.
There is no button to create my caregories or to add a product button.
Will keep looking but so far this is the only place I see the error.

Do you know what this refers to
Thanks

Same response: cache directory. Error log. Contents? Knowing that a problem occurred is one part, knowing what the error is (as logged) guides to the solution.

It mentions cart but not sure how it can relate to adding products.
