Category Template - product copy/edit

I'm a total newbie at this as you'll no doubt realise by the question.

So I've created a category with products eg named a,b,c,d,e......thru z with size, weight, price, colour.

If I do this across all options there are over 20k variations, what's the best way to simplify the listings. I know how to do it in excel with validation tables, it only takes a short time, an hour at the most (but they do look horrible on a webpage) . However, I'm totally stumped trying to do that efficiently in ZenCart. I have 25 different sizes and 45 colours etc, etc.

Have you done this using attributes??

Do all of your products have the same variations??

Re: Category Template - product copy/edit

I had a look at the attributes tab but couldn't work out how to use it to create the differentials.

almost all have the same variations, the ones that don't I can do manually because the range is much smaller/

Re: Category Template - product copy/edit

Thanks for the reply

I did read that already and tried to use it but it doesn't seem to do what I need it to do.

for example if I want everything in a category to be £1.11 and 2.4g, it appears I have to add them all individually.

Re: Category Template - product copy/edit

Well, lets say I have 20 different coloured Tshirts, size very very small and I want them all to be £1.11 and they all weigh 2.4g

Then have another 20 different coloured TShirts size very small and I want them all to be £1.21 and they all weigh 3.0g

and so on, etc, etc

I really dont want to be manually adding every single item one by one with all variations.

I'm sure there must be a more efficient way to do this

Re: Category Template - product copy/edit

lmao Kobra,,

I'm more confused than ever after reading thru that thread. I can add about 40 products an hour manually, so with 18,500, that's only 16 weeks at 4 hours per day to get it all done. Might actually be quicker for me than trying to understand all that php stuff

Re: Category Template - product copy/edit

I suggest that you download it from here
https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=2069

And in your cart create at least one product with desired attributes

Install it, to a test cart if you wish, and then through your admin download a EP csv

Open it in the required spreadsheet and you should be impressed with what you can do from there
