htaccess foibles with Wordpress4Zen and zen admin

zc 1.5.5 with Responsive Sheffield Blue and WP4Zen, amongst other mods.

My site is www dot meafordwool dot com. I have wordpress blog mod - it links from the home page. WP folder is in my root and I access admin for it via meafordwool dot com slash wordpress slash wp admin.

I own another domain name - sprucehavenfarm which I have re-directed to meafordwool dot com via my server cpanel. When I set up the redirect it automatically places the following htaccess in my root folder:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^sprucehavenfarm\.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.sprucehavenfarm\.com$
RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/meafordwool\.com" [R=301,L]

Now, when I'm writing a blog post I'll get a session-expired message after a few minutes or when I try to insert a photo, save a draft or other operation - which brings up a login page for sprucehavefarm which shows the following url:

sprucehavenfarm.com/wordpress/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.meafordwool.com%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php&reauth=1

This wasn't happening until after I did the redirect and no other changes in mods so I am guessing that this is the culprit. There is nothing in the config files of either zen cart or wordpress about sprucehavenfarm (it is in text of tag line, without the dot com however)

So far I haven't hit such errors when in zc admin.

Anyone with htaccess experience able to tell me what's going on and how to correct. I can kill the re-direct if needs be, but would prefer not.

Instead of doing a redirect in cPanel, why not tell cPanel that the domain is an alias instead?
