Migrating to a new server

ok, so I am moving to a new server/hosting company because I have outgrown the current one and don't wish to go to a VPS. So I have done this before but for some reason I am having troubles this time.

Problem:

I keep getting the "Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart®. You are seeing this page for one or more reasons:" page. What is weird is I also transferred my old (still active) site over and it works just fine (tacticaloffense.com/shop)

Here are the steps that I have taken to resolve this issue

1. /includes/configure.php and/or /admin/includes/configure.php have the correct path ("http(s)://tacticaloffense.com")
2. catalog paths are correct /store/
3. SSL is installed
4. I have migrated over all the DB files and changed the COMPLETE paths accordingly (old: home5/tact7/public_html/store to home2/tact6/public_html/store)
5. I have made sure all references from my .co to my .com and everything mentioned above have been addressed and corrected in the files and DB

One issue that I had was that my new hosting provider was a little misleading in that they said that I could change my primary domain once I moved everything over which turns out to be not true unless I am on a VPS. I set up the account under a .co and moved everything over. Once I moved my .com over I had to use it as an addon domain and point it to a new folder (root/) which is where my store is held. Not sure if that has any affect on things but I wouldnt think so.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You did not mention what your DB entries are??
In the new account are they prefixed differently?
Is the user the same or is it also prefixed?
Is the DB user pass valid?

Also, is the /store folder redirected as is the .com?? If this has anything to do with it

First off and often "overlooked", the error message displayed by the website actually does contain useful information to identify what the problem is. It is though usually at the end of the window display. But if you were to copy and paste the entire message perhaps all of the above data can be sifted for the answer.

They have use cpanel and they can alter the base domain name very easily

In WHM they only need to "modify account" and change the domain

As to folders...

Understand, there are the "folders" that visitors to the site see, and there are folders that are maintained somewhat in the background.

Your uri points to a location on a server... Depending on the flexibility/allowance of your host, you could setup your primary store to something like:
/usr/usrname/public_html/main_site_folder/main_site_sub_folder/heres_where_the_store_is

And the world would see: my-site . com to get to that last folder as the place of the root of the store.

Sure it could become a mess, but the important thing is that there is a path associated with the uri and that the addition of the new folder root/ may effect all this and certainly needs to be incorporated.

All DB info/location/DBName/Pass/etc are correct.

.com redirects to folder called root.

ACTUAL structure is as follows:

/home2/usrname/public_html/root/store/heres_where_the_store_is

.COM points to root so its structure is tacticaloffense.com/store/heres_where_the_store_is

same for tacticaloffense.com/shop/heres_where_the_shop_is

Right, but what mc12345678's trying to tell you is that buried in that page's text is some detail, e.g. DIR_FS_CATALOG is not defined or not valid, that further identify the reason that you are being sent to that page.

Now I got it. I see what you mean. regardless of domain forwarding, the DIR_FS_CATALOG has to show true file path. everything is up and running.

It's not a domain issue. You can see the old store at tacticaloffense.com/shop/
But you are having to rig this install to get to your actual .com domain
/home2/usrname/public_html/root/store/heres_where_the_store_is
This will continue to be an issue into the future - I was just suggesting that you get it corrected now and avoid these issues in the future
It is an easy thing to do on their end - you will have to adjust things after they have done it

I have called the tech support and the only way to do it is to set up now hosting and re-migrate everything over. The host company can only change the primary domain on VPS accounts which I do not have.

I still may do do that I jsut dont have the patience right now to work on migrating everything again at the moment.

Since my hosting is cloud hosting (a step above their regular shared hosting but still below their VPS) they couldn't do it. I did decide this morning that I want it done right so we worked out a plan that has them downgrading me to regular shared hosting, renaming the account from the .co to the .com, and then upgrading back to the cloud hosting. Hopefully by days end everything will be running as it should be.
