Upgrading from v154 to v155a problem with database upgrade

I have installed v155 in a different directory.
I did a database backup of my live site.

When I import the back up to my v155 zen-cart it is only showing information from 2007 nothing newer.

When I look at the configure.php file on my live site and my new test site I do see the the live site has DB_PREFIX. When I add the DB_PREFIX to the test site and try and run zc_install when it ask for my user name and password none work.

I have even gone into My phpMyAdmin and reset the user name and password and still cant login.

If I remove DB_PREFIX from the test site I can go to phpMyAdmin and reset user name and password and can log in.

How can I get my test site working so I can upgrade my live site to the new version?

To be clear on a few things, you checked both configure.php files for the correct DB_PREFIX, correct? What is the DB_PREFIX?

How does the php version of your test site compare to your live site?

When you ran the reset password query in your test site, what was the specific query that you ran?

(If you're using the wrong DB_PREFIX you could be telling Zen Cart to use a set of tables containing old data, because the DB_PREFIX is the prefix that gets prepended to the database tablenames. And if your store is using "store1_" as a prefix to get to tables like "store1_admin" instead of just "admin" vs "zen_admin" or "fred_admin" or "store2_admin", you can see how it could be showing you data from a different store that you set up back in 2007 in the same database.)

to be very clear, if you did a DB backup, and now you are using THAT database to upgrade, and that data ends at 2007; i am willing to go out on a limb and say you did something wrong.

how many different databases do you have access to? and are available on your web server?

upgrading from 154 to 155a "might" fail, but it will NOT delete the past 9 years of data IMHO.

no doubt, to me, a problem with your config file. i would go back over all of the steps that you did, and look at the number of DBs you have available. ZC may not be perfect, but it is not deleting data going back to 2007, IMHO. and it sounds like you "may" be connecting to an old backup of your data.
