How do I bypass GoDaddy's landing page?

Hi and thanks in advance.

Hosting on godaddy, my store is in a subdirectory.
Whenever someone types in https://www.benzbonz.biz they get
a cheasy looking webpage and must click "Enter Here" to get to my store.
I would like to rediect anyone that just types in the benzbonz.biz part to the store subdirectory.

I have SSL installed

I've googles it and have tried various redirect statements, but none seem to work.

And when I get this htaccess working do I need to make changes to the config files in admin and includes?

Re: How do I bypass GoDaddy's landing page?

in your cpanel, you should be able to change your document root.

you would then need to remove the /store from your configure.php files.

Re: How do I bypass GoDaddy's landing page?

Try finding that page using your FTP client and look for anything named
index
default
etc.

Once found you can transfer it to your local and view the contents in a code editor
If this is the page file you can delete it

Or seeing that you have no intention of using the root of your domain name for anything but the store, you could move your store into your root and operate forward from there: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?160-i-have-installed-zen-cart-to-a-directory-how-do-i-rename-or-move-that-directory

What's your plan to direct/redirect to this other store using the same domain name?

Asking more to incite further planning. Seems like might be able to use a sub-domain type action for this store, though things can get messy if it's not a true sub-domain style reference supported by your host.

FYI, be prepared for a lot of other discussion about trying to make money using multiple "stores" all in the same "area". I think I've said enough.

Re: How do I bypass GoDaddy's landing page?

Well that is the most SEO unfriendly way to do that....nicest way I could say it...
Use an .htaccess redirect, something like below.

# .htaccess main domain to subdirectory redirect
# Do not change this line.
RewriteEngine on
# Change example.com to be your main domain.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?example.com$
# Change 'subdirectory' to be the directory you will use for your main domain.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/subdirectory/
# Don't change the following two lines.
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
# Change 'subdirectory' to be the directory you will use for your main domain.
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /subdirectory/$1
# Change example.com to be your main domain again.
# Change 'subdirectory' to be the directory you will use for your main domain
# followed by / then the main file for your site, index.php, index.html, etc.
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?example.com$
RewriteRule ^(/)?$ subdirectory/index.html [L]

Try moving index.html to your local PC and then deleting it on the server
Many hosts will load files the are html before any other like a php file

Well then you will require something that allows you to tell the 2 stores apart and I am not familiar with what GD has available

If I get another domain name, I can forward it to the subdirectory of my choosing.

I can specify which database goes with which store. Godaddy allows I think 10 databases. I have SSL on my domain, and I assume that SSL follows the subdirectories, so multiple stores, one domain name, one hosting, one ssl cert.

Re: How do I bypass GoDaddy's landing page?

SSL certs secure a domain or with a multi-site SSL a group of domains.

while you may be able to configure multiple domains on the server to be protected by 1 SSL, users would get a non-trusted warning from their browser if the domain is not included in the SSL cert.

You assume incorrectly as the cert will be issued to a specific domain/subdomain
store.mysite is not covered by one for mysite

There is a "Wildcard" cert at much greater expense that can encompass multiple subdomains

Re: How do I bypass GoDaddy's landing page?

To use a single SSL without purchasing a wildcard SSL, each store would need to be viewed by a visitor (eventually) as originating with the current domain name and existing in a subdirectory off of that.

To some extent this returns back to the original suggestion of placing this store in the root of the domain. Any other new domain to be placed in this directory path to use a single SSL that is not a wildcard SSL would require the other domain name to be rewritten to the current domain name and the applicable sub-directory. Further not all hosts support a single account having multiple SSL certificates so even if purchasing a second, third, etc... likely will require a completely different filepath anyways further making the customer facing sub-directory unnecessary. But then again I haven't gone searching through all the possibilities of GoDaddy's setup to be able to identify their limitations and probably would require speaking with someone there who might actually know what they're talking about to identify the limitations of the current account setup.

Just seems like a lot of work to accomplish something that doesn't offer any benefit and could have been complete 3 days ago.
