Wanted: Missing Home page content

Zen-Cart Version 1.5.4
Module Addon's: Cross Sell (X-Sell), Product with Attributes Stock (aka SBA) - I think that is all but it has been a while since this was set up so I'm not sure.

Problem is that the website should look like ---> Attachment 16363

and now it looks like this ---> Attachment 16364

So here is the thing. I helped my wife set this website up but she maintains it. It is still functional (kind of) but missing all the cool stuff in the middle of the page and on the right hand side like Center Catagories, Manufacturers (right) Shopping Cart, Bestsellers, Sponsors - I need to change that should be manufacturers. I have check the settings Config > Show SubCategories on Main Page while Navigating = 1
Config > Layout Settings > Always Show on Main Page = 1

Here is a link to how it looked if you want the full screen experience. https://web.archive.org/web/20160115134305/http://www.completespray.com/

Now = http://www.completespray.com

I'm not sure what she was trying to update but I know she had FileZilla open and the control panel so I suspect she may have deleted or mangled a file. The problem is that I don't know which file would cause that kind of havoc on my main page only so I can replace it or check it for errors.

oh..and she didn't make any back ups prior to playing with things :no: and since this project is several years old I don't have them either due to a PC crash :(

Any ideas?

Actually, the image is there it is just really small
I suspect that this is defined in your main_page.php file accessible from your admin > tools > define page editor

Backup first

Re: Wanted: Missing Home page content

On the left hand side (left column just above 'Categories') there is a tiny image which resembles what you used to have previously.

It is shown as a banner in the source:

<div id="headerpic">
<div id="bannerTwo" class="banners"><img src="images/Complete Rotating Banner.gif" alt="Complete Spray Systems" title=" Complete Spray Systems " width="38" height="10" /></div>
</div>

Try and increase the size of that image - currently width="38" height="10"

Re: Wanted: Missing Home page content

The other thing I found when sending the page through the html validator after reviewing the page's source code is that there is a <script tag that is not properly closed... all of the footer and right side information is being pushed to the browser but it can not be properly parsed because of the broken validation.

Re: Wanted: Missing Home page content

Thank you everyone for your help! So after looking into it I finally got smart and decided to do a check on the server for files modified around the date the problem started. After carefully looking at those files I discovered that there were 2 issues causing my problems.

/public_html/images > My banner file had been reduced in size to way too small in error. This was part of an effort to reduce some photo sizes for quicker page load.

More importantly /public_html/includes/languages/English/html_includes/mytemplate > define_main_page.php was modified. Replaced with the classic template file and all my footer and side boxes returned to normal. Not sure where the error was in the define_main_page.php file I'm sure something was not closed correctly but I didn't see anything so it seemed easier to start over and then adjust the wording back to where I wanted it.

I really appreciate everyone's help which pointed me in the right direction and helped to kick start my brain :)

I hope this will be helpful to someone else at some point.

Thanks for letting us know that this now fixed and working for you. Just one thing: you should replace the image with the original so it does not get distorted when the image is automatically resized.
