Alternative for IP lookup in Admin using Domaintools.com

Is there an alternative/replacement for the built-in IP lookup within Admin that will maintain the user-friendly functionality?

It appears that domaintools.com has changed their policy and banning any lookup in excess of 10 per 24 hour period unless you have the $1000/year account.

I've never been redirected to a "Banned" screen for performing too many lookups.

I've found that as long as I'm logged in with a free account they rarely tell me I've done too many lookups.
But if my login times out or I'm in a different browser (and not logged in), it'll certainly stop me until i at least do the captcha.

Your observation was the same as mine until the past day or two.

Logged into the free account and get cutoff at 10 lookups (might have been 12), then redirected to a "Banned" page due to exceeding the lookup limit.
Browser doesn't matter, so it must be using my static IP address for counting.

I did find a screen that indicated their ToS were changing, effective soon. (can't find the exact date)

I'm just not ready to think about v155. From a non-coder viewpoint, there just seems to be more significant changes and issues being ironed out on a pretty regular basis making for more answer seaching to attempt the upgrade process/implemention.

Please don't take the comments the wrong way. I respect all the work the entire team and other volunteers who work with you to keep the code up to date, fuctional and secure. I just question my own abilities as a non-coder based upon what my eyes see/interpret in my daily readings here. I'm afraid that by the time I got my sandbox ironed out, V160 would be released requiring me to repeat the process.

V155 seems to be a more significant upgrade than the increase in version number indicates based upon the number of edits to plugins, templates, etc that are functional with V154 but not V155. Can't find it now, but I seem to remember a post by you that somewhat acknowledged that observation, so it is not just me. And the number of threads that seem to indicate edits here and there to remedy those issues. All those edits are scattered about, probably easy to find using Google, but just there shear number of threads gives an onerous appearance to my non-coder mentality.

I stopped looking at V155 when importing my V154 database into my sandbox failed. That might have been related to the sandbox having a different, lower version of PHP and MySQL than the live site but users move between servers all the time. This number of threads may not have anything to do with V155 but are related to other code that becomes broken as a result of compatability issues with V155.

I agree: if you're using 3rd party templates, there are going to be things you need to do to make them compatible. I think Anne has said she's working on preparing updates to make it easier for people to use her templates on the new version.
