Help Moving My Installation With My Theme From Localhost To An Online Server

Hey Guys,

I need a little help here, using 1.5.5 with Sheffield Responsive Blue 2.0. I finally finished my website on my local server and wanted to upload it to an online server. I tried just ftping it all but that didn't work so I found this tutorial. I followed it step-by-step but both times I get the error "ERROR 0071: There appears to be a problem with the database. Maintenance is required."

This is driving me nuts. Any help?

What's the DB_PREFIX in your configure.php files, on localhost, and on the live server?

If you're importing data from localhost where "fred_" is used as a prefix, then you can't use "mary_" as a prefix on the live server. You'd need to use the same prefix on the live server .... in this example, set it to "fred_".

Ideally it's best to leave it blank. But if you've started with a prefix already on local, then you'll need to continue using it on live server.

Ahhh, it comes up as _zen so I have to go into the current configure.php in includes and admin/includes and change it?

Or should I create another new mysql db and use _zen as a prefix then drop the tables, import tables from old db?

If you have already imported the database to a current database, then it could continue to be used, but yes it would be a cleaner operation if your local database was applied to a completely clean database, whether the same one as current or a new one.

As to the changes, yes, update of the prefix in the two files is all that is needed for the current database, but if change databases then credentials need to match there as well for both files.

It's fixed now mate, it was the prefix that was the issue.
