changed admin password in zen_admin table, still can not log in, how to fix??

Recently converted ZC site to use SSL, also changed from php 5.3.29 to 5.6.

Changed admin password in zen_admin table via phpMyAdmin and STILL can not log in.

Double-checked that all is proper links etc. in store and admin configure.php, so far as I can see.

Don't want and can't rebuild the server...

Should I downgrade the php??

Also the reset password feature does not work either.

If it worked before the upgrade of PHP, then certainly would suggest downgrading the PHP version. ZC 1.3.9.b was not written at a time when the construct of PHP 5.6 was known and is not supported.

That said, the site is lllooonnnggg overdue for an upgrade, with the software being 6+ years old?!!! A lot has changed in networking, coding, and security since that time period...

At some point if not already, the alternative to upgrading will be not making any sales...

I didn't request comments about when to upgrade etc.
I know about all that.
I fortunately got it fixed with another account.
I can leave it at php 5.6 for now and downgrade to php 5.3 later.
And actually I just now discovered the site is on 1.5.1 not 1.3.9, I was guessing what version it is on.
I will ask elsewhere about what version PHP can be used by 1.5.1.
