Display actual prices in the attribute lists

I love the ability to create multiple attributes. But it's really frustrating to a customer to see price attributes like "Medium +7.51," rather than being able to actually see the price for that attribute.

Yes, I know you can leave the product price blank and put the actual prices in the attributes. But then the 'Starting at' price doesn't show up.

Since that field has to be retrieved anyway to display the price increment, it wouldn't be that difficult to do the incremental calculation on the spot and display the actual price.

It will show up if the product is marked priced by attribute on the product info page from admin.

And to take it a step further there is a plugin that will use javascript to update the price of the product based on the selection(s). It's called display price update. Currently out-of-the box it needs a few edits, but an updated version is to be pushed in the "near" future that incorporates those mods.

Re: Display actual prices in the attribute lists

Yes, not only did I not remember about 'price by attributes' when I wrote the above, I also forgot that I had already set up half of my products to be priced that way. Grrr. I went back this morning to do one last test of things before moving it all to the live server, and realized that the product I was testing was showing the correct prices in the dropdown lists and also showing the starting price on the product page. Went to look at the product and discovered that I had 'Priced by Attributes' checked on that one. My bad. Just too much going on right now. I'm having to handle the existing orders and develop the new site at the same time, without help, so it is pretty hectic right now. My apologies for tying up people's time to answer the question.

Re: Display actual prices in the attribute lists

No problem and no sweat. We all have our moments, for some they are senior, others as indicated a lot going on. If you need a time saving method to apply priced by attributes, feel free to ask, but please try to identify the "boundary" conditions so that you get a solution that doesn't blatantly cause issues in the future. :)
