Hosting Companies--Who do you recomend?

Forgive me if this is posted on the wrong board. I am running Zen Cart 1.5.5e, php 5.3 with Payeezy and shipping modules. Site is midwestglobagroup.com. For strange reasons, my present hosting company is not able to get my site running properly when upgrading to php 5.6 or above. My shopping cart encounters a series of errors as a result, and sometimes the site crashes. The site only works on php 5.3 and now this is encountering random errors with payeezy (some customer orders are charged one penny less than what the order total should be)As such, I have decided to move my site to a hosting company which will not have these issues and work towards getting the site to function properly on their serves.

Can you all recommend a hosting company and tell me of your experience with them? My main concerns are uptime, security, and support.

There are several suggestions available if you click on the "Services" link on the menu at the top of this page.

How long have you had the theme859 template? They offer 6 months support and I just imagine the template is most of the problem. It's over two years old and updated a year and a half ago.

The jquery scripts are older versions and Ultimate SEO was added to the two years ago.

The Ultimate SEO mod is labeled as ** USE AT OWN RISK ** and specifies that it is PHP 5.3 and 5.4 compatible. It also says it supports through 1.5.4.

You might want to consider an upgrade/update using the instructions at https://www.zen-cart.com/entry.php?3-How-do-I-rebuild-my-site-on-the-new-version-instead-of-upgrading.

The section, How do I do an upgrade and still keep my live store running in the meantime? is the one you would probably use.

Depending on your expertise, you could copy the site to a test directory, remove the Ultimate SEO, and switch to some other template. Then, you could make a quick change of PHP to see if those were the culprits.

If it works without the Ultimate SEO and template, turn the template back on and see if it breaks.

Changing Hosters will not solve all your problems. There are many, some serious, HTML coding errors which need to be corrected and will remain no matter where you are hosted.

The zenid also appears with every link and it should only appear the first time a link is used on your site.

• make sure they both say True

Viewing the files in the 'logs' dir. and Apache error log will also help to correct current problems.

i agree with others. your problem is not your hosting company. for the price of shared hosting, they can not debug your site.

i personally think your site looks fine, and i would work with a coder or start debugging the site yourself to resolve your issues. replacing the template would be one way to go, but i would just work through the errors instead. it looks like you have a lot already invested in the template, and i would hate to throw that work away.

Thank you all. I am going to take a look at updating my template and seeing if this indeed fixes everything.

I have had the template since March. it was a last minute fix. An upgrade that I paid another developer to perform went horribly and they left me in a lurch.
