Lightspeed Cache

I just wondered if Zen Cart could make use of Lightspeed Cache that runs on Apache Web Servers?

There are plugins for Wordpress and Magento and a few other CMS systems. It would be good if Zen Cart could make use of Lightspeed Caching to speed sites up.

I have Lightspeed Server installed to improve page load times and speed performance of my server by optimising Apache. You can find details of Lightspeed here.

There are extensions for Lightspeed that further optimise sites making them run much faster, but these cannot run without Lightspeed Server.

However there isn't a plugin for Zen Cart. It would be great if there was a module built to plug into Lightspeed Server, much like the plugin for Magento or Prestashop.

I just wondered if there was a module in existence for this, or if not, if there are any plans to include this in a future Zen Cart installation?

I have had it running on Wordpress and yes there was a big improvement. And it improved page rank on a few sites. So I just think Zen Cart would benefit from it. If it improves page rank then that is a good thing.

:) Does it currently make any difference to Zen Cart sites without a plugin? I could turn this on for my site but I don't want to spend the money to test as they may complain if I didn't see improvements and wanted to go back.

Best way to do might be to reverse engineer the Wordpress plugin???

Another thing that zen would benefit from is some sort of AMP page auto generation system. I have done amp pages from zen cart pages and they do improve page rank. However these were manually generated and much harder work. Thats another issue though. Although I suspect combined with lightspeed you would see huge improvements.

I have tried it on Zen Cart through the web server and I think it improved a bit but really you need a plugin/module to get full advantage out of it. Thats why Wordpress has it's own plugin that connects to lightspeed on the server.

Thats when you see the big improvements.

If I'm honest I am not sure where I would start with reverse engineering it and not sure I have the time anyway with all my other bits. But if someone was able to that would be fantastic.

Nevr used one on a Zen Cart set up, so I can't say for certain but I would have thought it would speed it up in different locations of the world. It depends what your aim is really. If you are just selling in one country, you probably wouldn't see much improvement, but say your server was UK based and you wanted to deliver content to Russia or the USA, a CDN would probably be useful. I am just guessing really though.

For some reason, installing LiteSpeed caused our vps to start failing PCI scans. Restore Apache and all OK.

LiteSpeed was a no charge upgrade by the host and it wasn't worth the manpower at the time to troubleshoot.
