Download still available after customer has received the file

ZC 1.5.5f, ckeditor, ImageHandler5, PHP 7.1.16 (site is not live, can't supply URL yet)

I've created a download attribute per the tutorials (download type=redirection, one download, 7 day expiry,) and applied it to my products. This works great as the "Download Now" is available once the transaction is complete and payment received. But the link is still there after the one download -- if the customer (in this case, me) re-enters the link given after clicking the download button - the download (in this case a digital image [jpg]) is displayed and can be downloaded again.

My understanding was the redirect link would be removed after the download limit (1) was reached -- am I wrong and the image can be downloaded again until BOTH the download limit and link expiration has been reached? I don't want to set the link expiration to one day, to give my customers time, but I also don't want to leave my items available after they've been 'received' ...

I just ran a test on Zen Cart 1.5.5f, setting the download days to 7 and limit to 1. Once purchased, I navigated to "My Account" and clicked the Download link.

Due to the nature of the downloads-processing, that link button was still present but clicking on it resulted in a message that "My download has expired."
