Automatic UpGrade

Hello everyone, we have been using zen cart for more than 12 years, and every time a new version comes up we have to upgrade manually, since we use a lot of plugins and many customizations, it's possible that you can not create a plugin / system that automatically do the CMS update, without touching personalizations and plugs installed? how does worpress for example? Will there be a less laborious method to update zen cart? someone has ever thought of it. Thank you all.

Not possible. What you are asking for, and many end-users would like, would require an entire rewrite of the code which is a huge undertaking since basically that means creating an entire new ecommerce system.

While the previous post is correct, the developers are well-aware of the limitations of the current, legacy codebase and each release removes some of the obstacles/prepares the groundwork on the path to a easier updates while parallel development goes on in 1.6 towards a modern codebase.

For the moment, the difficulty of the upgrade depends largely on how well-written (using observers and template overrides) and well-documented are your modifications.

Good morning, the version we have installed is the155E, with the following modules:
see attached, plus other modules such as Recovery Cart, Inventory Report, Monthly Sales, edit order, Image Handler, etc etc.
Therefore you need to be able to upgrade without reinstalling all the modules and various customizations, both of the template and of the customized files for the various languages. Thank you.
