Migrating from osCommerce

I am considering migrating from osCommerce to Zen Cart and I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who has had this experience. I am going to hire someone to do it so the cost would be of interest.

I will need a rewards system installed with all the data, all customer information, order information, etc. etc. PayPal, Credit Card module, and a few other odds and ends.

Is this even something that I should even be considering?

Thanks for any help provided.

Re: Migrating from osCommerce

Like any migration it's best to consider what you **need **the new cart to have (information) and what you **need **the new cart to do (module function).

Typical migrations can take 3 days to 3 weeks. Complicated or module rebuilding as a need for function can take longer.

Next is database size. ** Size = Time**, more to move = more to do - even with the fastest computers and networks available.

Recently we migrated a 250 product site in under a week from Wix - Zen.
In the past a similar Zen Cart having 27,000 products took over a month.

Then there's the wants... that's where things can get expensive :wink2:
