Specials: status control by stock level

Currently the status of the Special Price can be auto-activated/deactivated only by a date range.

Personally I only use Specials to get rid of stock...then someone buys it when it is out of stock and still at the discount price as it has been forgotten to delete it.

For me it would be useful to add another field for a minimum stock level at which the special is deactivated or deleted.

Is this a "move it out" to restock situation? While it seems that such a feature would disable the special price, but wouldn't the product still be available to then purchase while "out-of-stock" and still be somewhat in the same boat?

If implemented, seems like would also want a feature to support buying a specific quantity regardless the available stock... Wouldn't necessarily think it is a one or the other as stock quantities could be updated at any time during such promotion...

I'll only speak for my case where a special is (hopefully) a temporary thing to reduce/clear stock.
Once that stock has gone, normal service is resumed and people can continue to buy at the normal price: I have thousands of products on sale that we supply to order only.
Sometimes certain items start to gather dust and so I want to clear them, not stop selling them.

yeah, this would be super useful. I have also done something similar to all products, a checkbox on collect info and corresponding db column in products table. When stock = 0, disable the product. We use this switch for stuff we are trying to clear out, blemished/damaged items and discontinued items.
