blank zc_install page at localhost xampp

Goodday,

I have installed recently a xampp localhost at my computer, I was managing to install other software, but for some reason the Zen-cart install frontpage stays blank, if I use the same software at my webserver, the zc_install page is working,

Do you happen to know what went wrong?

I seem to have the same problem with Zencart 1.5.7b in combination with XAMPP 8.0.0 and get an error 500. Did you get any further?

Regarding Xampp...

Which xampp are you using?
Where have you put the zc files in relation to the Xampp htdocs directory?
What are you entering in the browser to start the install?
What is in the /logs directory?

I used Zencart in combination with XAMPP8.0.0

According to the system requirements it doesn't work:

*"PHP Version
The following table shows the PHP versions compatible with each version of Zen Cart.

Note: future versions of Zen Cart including v1.5.8 will require PHP 7.3+.

Zen Cart v1.5.7 is designed for PHP 5.6 through PHP 7.4 (it will trigger some errors on PHP 8)"*

I downloaded an older version of XAMPP. That solved the problem.

You may be able to use the unofficial 157c code by downloading the github v157 branch, which has some patches for PHP8 compatibility.
