Add Charity-select option at checkout

Curious who would be qualified and what it would cost. I want to add an area during checkout where customer can pick a charity or organization that we donate to. At this point, no formula is needed, it's just a field they select and we see it when the order comes over. We calculate the amount on our end after the fact. The list of charities will change regularly; i want to be able to easily add or subtract charities but price (of writing the custom code) matters. If cheaper for me to open up the php and adjust it, i'll go with that. Nicer if it can all be done from the admin panel. Price matters. A little area near the selection area where we can add information for clarity as the need arises... for example, a note from us, underneath it, the actual input field for the charity. Perhaps a little design that calls out that area and has a title that we can change.

I do not want it installed for me. I'll install it. Something that will survive the perpetual updates would be nice too. Maybe adding the charity's logo near their name would be a good thing too?

I hired one person who contributes a lot on Zen only to get stuck paying upfront for a product I cannot install, downed my site, changed my database but does not work. To make matters worse, attitude now ensues. So, warning, be careful whom you hire on these forums… friendly on Zen forum doesn’t necessarily translate to reliable/honest off Zen forum. It’s just another reminder about morality..how our nation runs a deficit in that area. Personally, I would never ever defraud anyone under any circumstances. If I sold a product or service (I sell both) and was even remotely off, I would make it right quickly and by quickly, I mean, it then takes priority. But, that’s another America.
I’m still looking for a way to allow customers to choose a charity! I think Zen should include this because all the major sites allow for a donation. I have inventory and about to manufacture products based on supporting various charities and need this fixed but, having heck of a time getting someone. How to do it so we know the product works before we pay for it!
But not complaining, I’m very glad Zen cart exists. Think about it, a person would most likely need an IT degree to install a cart but Zen made it simple allowing small, small business to get a foot in the door. The problem is when custom work is needed and then, I’m baring witness here… you really gotta watch your back.
Now, I need to reverse the damage done to files and restore my database to erase the damage done.

as this forum serves many purposes, one of which is learning about ZC, i would encourage you to get a proper resolution with said person.

if you are unhappy with said services, i would also encourage you to out that person as well, similar to a yelp review. this could in turn offer readers of this forum a buyer beware.

that said, if your expectations were unreasonable for the price paid, there could also be some blow back on you.

in my experience on this forum, most of the active support people provide great help at no fee... complaining about someone anonymously does little to help the community.

Look, I work hard. I’m up early and late to bed. I don’t need games or assorted and sundry BS. I don’t play games. I’m not unreasonable. I’m honest. From my perspective, a frequent contributor is given a certain amount of credibility by the sheer number of posts. For that reason, they should be publicly reviewed to keep them honest but, if you know anything about the law, you’d know I am unable to call them out by name unless Zen binds them to such an agreement. Probably Zen doesn’t want to get involved in all that, looks like one of the founders is pretty busy guy as is.
I asked for help. Worker set the price. I paid it. not only doesn’t work but colossal waste of my time! Just saying, let the buyer beware. Maybe that’s the exact post that needs to be posted: LET THE BUYER BEWARE!

If anyone cares to know how this turned out, twitchtoo offered help and glad he did. Problem solved. Now I can get back to making a living!
My review for him for this job is: 1. He knows his plugin inside and out. Lightning-fast direction. 2. He did not require me to pay upfront. It is on my site now, working before I had to pay. 3. He was polite and upbeat throughout.
