Update to v157d erased customized pages

Hi, I'm just getting started with ZenCart, my store has not been live yet, but when I upgraded to v157d from c it wiped out all the customization I had made to several pages: main page, the defined pages (Shipping, Privacy pages, etc), sideboxes all went back to the default "ZenCart" stuff (text, logos & images) like a new installation. My database/inventory was still intact with the Categories and graphics all still defined as I left them...Fortunately I was able to restore from backup, but I am wondering what I need to do to keep my changes to these pages from being eradicated when I update? I'm using the Responsive Classic template. Wondering if it might be as simple as backing up a specific folder before the update, then copying that folder back over, but not entirely sure which folder(s) it/they might be?

TIA.

Hopefully you made a backup of your site.

When upgrading, IF you didnt backup your template files, then they would have been overwritten by the update core files. You should always duplicate the the Template and then modify the NEW template files, that way when you upgrade, the upgraded files can be installed, they dont overwrite your customization's, and you can then update your current template with the modified files by merging your your new define pages with the updated versions.

Re: Update to v157d erased customized pages

A couple of issues:
a) Unfortunately, the define_pages responsive_classic folder is fully populated in 1.5.7. In 1.5.8, I removed these files so an update won't clobber your copies.

b) When you do a partial upgrade (e.g. from 157c -> 1.5.7d), don't just copy everything - copy only the files that have changed. Each release has a changed files document:

As people are people and therefore mistakes may get made, using comparison software either open source or commercial helps to identify the differences between the fileset on the server and the files to be applied in the upgrade

Do you have even a tentative release date for 1.5.8? I'm in the process of switching to 1.5.7d, but if another major update will be out soon, it might make more sense for me to wait for that.

Just the PayPal changes alone may make it well worth the effort to upgrade.

You are welcome to use https://github.com/dbltoe/157d-Changed-Files without guarantee. I have used in on five sites with only one glitch (my fault).

It's too far out to even give a date, and the initial upgraders will need to be experts. You should be moving to 1.5.7d now.

Yes, should be live within a couple of days. I'm timing it to coincide with our move to a new facility.
