My country is disappeared from "Choose a country" list

I have been upgrading my shop from 1.55e to 1.57d. I thought I had everything sorted, but now in the last testing I wanted to register a new test customer. I then found that when choosing country from the pulldown list, my country (Norway) isn't in the country list. When logging into my own test account, I was sent to change my address and got through to the shopping cart only by choosing another country.
Norway is in the table 'countries' in the database, and Norway is set as the default country ID on create account in Config-->Customer details.
I must have done a mistake at some point, but can't find where. I have searched all over but can't find the file(s) where this can be corrected and Norway reinstated in the choose country list.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Check the admin's Locations :: Countries to make sure that Norway hasn't been mistakenly 'disabled'.
