Google Workspace & Less Secure Apps (5/30/2022)

I see Google is doing away with allowing less secure apps to access the SMTP server. I've been poking around on several other methods and can't seem to get any others to work.

Anyone know what it would take to implement a solution that could use smtp.gmail.com without requiring the less secure apps... it's going away 5/30/2022... tick... tick... tick.

Do you still need "less secure" when you have Gmail for business?
Otherwise you may need to look at other SMTP providers.

From the docs:> There are differing schools of thought about the merits of doing so.

Once had a boss who owned a company with six international offices. He refused to use anything but his aol email. Even put it on his business card. james######################. No mention whatsoever of the company.

He had a terrible time getting in doors as everyone thought he was working out of his garage. He invented the machines and patented the process for printing the signs you see along the highway.

He eventually found himself in a terrible cash flow position and had to sell out. Even the bankers commented about his email.:(

We recommend that our hosting customers use other than there domain email but ONLY for correspondence between us and them. Most hosts today include at least a few email addresses.

Gmail still offers smtp but there are some things you have to do to your gmail account in the form of 2 step authentication. Probably...IDK....ZC email config will have to make changes to accommodate googles secret password. Personally, I don't use gmail for my smtp server. But with Oracle giving out free ip's that do not come with reverse dns abilities, users are looking for smtp services that are also free. Anyone who doesnt know about Oracle free VM should check it out. It's legit, but the website is total chaos IMHO. And of course, no rDNS is a deal breaker for me and many others.
