Create Account Issue (working but loopy)

Windows 10
Apache 2.2
PHP 8.025
No plug-ins
Applied Scott Wilson's correction to init_includes for price range search issue.

The account creation page shows the state as a text box initially.

When sending the form, it returns to the create account page with a drop down list for the state and the message says to select the correct state.

It's loopy. I remember this from previous versions...still not fixed.

I did a search for "create account" and "account" in the bugs forum but nothing returned.

Oh, and it wipes out the passwords when it loops back...probably a good thing but frustrating for the user.

really?

last i checked, the price range search issue was fixed here.

and i was the one who invested the time and energy to debug your search issue.

while no one can question, the amount of time and energy that swguy invests into this project, i see nothing that suggests he was invested in said issue.

It happens when creating a second address as well...

Wow...didn't mean to diss you. My apologies.

Credit is due to you for fixing price range search for me, but you did point to Scotts file for the fix.

Either way, your point is moot...I'm reporting a bug totally unrelated to the search issue and was simply stating that was the ONLY change made to the clean install.

So, why even bring the price range issue into this create account issue?

i would suggest you learning how to read code changes on github. as i previously pointed out scott had nothing to do with this fix. that was part of a change made by neekfenwick and dr byte.

i bring this up because, without properly crediting people who freely give their time to help you, it is less likely for you to receive help from said individuals who can help you.

I'm guessing that you've got Configuration :: Customer Details :: State field - Display as pulldown when possible? set to false; change that to ***true ***to provide a work-around for the issue.

IIRC, it's fully corrected in zc200 but there were a bunch of changes that are incompatible with zc158a.

I'm beating a dead horse...thanks for the info.

I agree, the dropdown should be displayed since locations are predefined.

Optionally, the text box should have an on/off choice in admin or it should be included on the page in case a location is not listed.

Better yet, put a "Not Listed" choice in the dropdown. When selected, it should display the text box and button...this is my favorite choice.

The way it currently works (somewhat) is not a good user experience IMHO.
