Back button behavior when returning to listing page

If you open a listing page with a large number of items and scroll down to the bottom, then click on an item to view the product info page, then click the back button:

  • In older versions of Zen Cart it seems like you always returned to the page scrolled down to the item you clicked on, whereas
  • In newer versions of Zen Cart, it seems like the back button takes you back to the top of the listing page.

This behavior seems very repeatable in Firefox especially. (It happens in some Chrome installations but not others, no idea what the difference is.)

Anyone have an idea of the root cause, or how to recreate the older behavior?
(Template is Responsive Classic, ZC 2.1.0)

I have zencart 2.1 and chrome and seeing the 'older' behaviour.
