Plugins Listing

Some attention is needed to the formatting of the Plugins listing by author.

I can't find any rhyme or reason to the sort. It's not alphabetical, by LATEST RELEASE, or UPDATED.

I would suggest UPDATED and possibly adding a column for LATEST VERSION.

Latest Version supported would be a wonderful addition to the regular Plugins listing as well.

Re: Plugins Listing

When I look at

https://www.zen-cart.com/members/440?tab=plugins

It seems to be sorted by updated date DESC.

Re: Plugins Listing

Ah right you are - I only looked at the first few entries. Let's see what Ian says.

Re: Plugins Listing

New plugin submission - where do I find the pluginId now?

I submitted a new plugin on the new site a few days ago. On the old site the plugin's id was visible in the URL during/after submission, and that's the number I would put in the manifest's pluginId field for encapsulated plugins. With the new site's clean URLs I never saw an id anywhere in the submission process, so I left pluginId blank, figuring it would show once approved. It's approved now and I still don't see it anywhere.

Since Plugin Manager uses that id for upgrade detection, authors need somewhere to see it. Am I missing it, or does the new site need this added?

Same here, where can we find the plugin id?

Re: Plugins Listing

It probably would have been better to start a new thread entitled "Where's the plugin id?" ... but just like in the VB forums, that ID is present in the plugin's link. For example, for Cross Sell Advanced II (https://www.zen-cart.com/plugins/cross-sell-advanced-ii-vb2334) the plugin's ID is 2334.

Re: Plugins Listing

Like @lat9 said, please create a new thread for this request to help Ian keep things straight. It's a fine idea but it's separate from the original post.

Done: https://www.zen-cart.com/threads/207307#post-1346893

One other suggestion while you're working on the new forum:

It would be useful if administrators/moderators had a way to create a new thread directly from an existing post when a discussion starts going off-topic.

In this case, I was asked to create a new thread for the plugin ID question, which means reposting essentially the same question just to keep the original thread organized.

A moderator option such as "Move to New Thread" or "Create New Thread From Post" could take the selected post, create the new thread, and optionally leave a link behind in the original discussion.

That would accomplish the same goal of keeping threads on topic without requiring the member to duplicate the post manually.

Could you please create a new thread for that request? 😛

Moderators already have the ability.

Re: Plugins Listing

Three of my listings don't show a Repository link, while the rest of mine do. I can't find a way to set it after submission, so I think it needs someone on your side:

All three repositories are public.

What I checked first, in case it saves you time: the plugin page shows "Add new release" and "Edit compatible Zen Cart versions," but nothing else; the Add New Release form has no repository field, and /plugins/<slug>/edit returns a 404. The submit form does have a "GitHub Repository URL" field, so I assume it's captured at submission, and these three went in before I had the repo links ready. The manifest.php inside each published zip does carry github_repo, if that's ever useful as a fallback.

If I've missed a control, point me to it, and I'll set it myself.

One suggestion while you're in there: letting the plugin owner edit the repository URL would save you this kind of request. Repositories get renamed and moved, and right now only staff can fix a stale link.

Thanks,
John (dbltoe)
